CAU held the International Culture & Art Conference for three days (April 13-15) in CAU’s Art Center’s Great Theater and Multimedia Room. It was held for the improvement of interchange for the Western and Eastern International Culture & Art organization, and to develop and make a Global Cultural Network. ]

There were 26 universities from 12 countries represented. In addition to this conference, the World Culture & Art Seoul Declaration symposium, the Showcase for the sale of Jang Na-la China’s 2nd album in Korea, and the Hallyu Globalization International Forum were also held.

These events were organized for the purpose of making a Culture & Art Education Network between world universities and for supporting the globalization of Hallyu. Hallyu, the Korean Wave, is a socio-cultural phenomenon taking place across Asia, such as China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and even Russia and Mexico.

Hallyu has brought increased interest in and favorable disposition towards Korean popular culture, such as TV drama, movie, and music. Currently, the preference for Korean culture has expanded from merely popular culture to Korean lifestyles in general, including food, fashion, tourism (to film locations) and sports. There were 12 attending countries: United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK), Australia, France, German, Italy, Russia, Ireland, India, Japan, China and Korea. From other countries, 15 universities came. In addition, 11 domestic universities also attended. Main attendants included Park, Bum-hoon, President of CAU, the President of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in UK, the President of Academia Italian in Italy, the President of University of Dublin in Ireland, Brian Singleton, the Vice President of World Play Society, Robert Freeman, a Dean of the University of Texas at Austin in USA, the Vice President of Chinese Central Drama Academy and one International Culture & Art Education Field’s Global Leader. There were also cultural members, ambassadors to Korea participating in the events.
