The 51st ordinary general meeting of the International Film and Theater Research (IFTR) will be held at Chung-Ang University (CAU) in July 2008.
A representative from CAU brought it to light at a press interview. They applied in choosing the site to learn about the Korean theory on drama. 


IFTR is an international institute, founded in 1955, with about 80 drama-departments from 40 countries. This is the first IFTR annual ordinary general meeting held in East Asia. However, it also is a fist in Asia, except for the 2003 meeting in India.


 Brian Singleton said, "All the opening locations were focused on Europe at the time of stablishment. But nowadays it has extended to the other continents like Asia and Africa. And meeting of 51st has especially historic meaning as it will be held in East Asia for the first time."


 At the general meeting in 2008, drama scholars will gather and have scientific forum, present treatise on present status and theory, related to dramas. There also will be workshops and performances, with cooperation from other interior universities and the authorities concerned.

Jung-il Choi, a rector of Drama College in CAU, said, “We came to held the general meeting of IFTR in 2008, which is also 50th anniversary of drama department in CAU’s foundation.” He added, “Holding the ordinary general meeting is part of establishing network of international culture and art. Moreover, that would come true by setting up a global art campus in Song-do, the cosmopolitan city.
