Did you know the Korean average amount of reading rate is at the bottom among the OECD countries? The reading rate in one month is 0.8, one-day reading time is only 8 minutes. Over half the university students surveyed do not read one book per month. Reading Novels occupied the largest percentages of reading time. In addition, the most popular novels are fantasy novels, such as “Harry Potter” or other heroism novels. What should we do about the lack of reading?

First, we must think where to read books. We sometimes say, “I have no time to read.” However, think what you are doing when you go home or come to campus. In my case, I am reading a book while I take a subway to go to campus. It is a very short time, but I like the old saying, “Dust gathers to make a big mountain.” If you are reading a book when there are break times, you will finish a book soon.

Second, here are some reading tips from Pyo Jeong-hoon, who is the Editor of a publishing website.
1.Think about the books you read. How many books do you read?which  books impressed you? What kind of books do you read? Do you read books only within one or two fields or categories? Did you try to make time for reading? Think all of it and reflect on it in terms of your reading plan.
2.Many people followed other’s recommendations. They just read bestseller-books. Find your own interests and purposes. With this, make a plan.
3.Choosing professional books is a good place to start your reading plan. However, next year, change the field. If you do it yearly, someday, your brain will be full of information.

Students are not machines to study. However, a student is a person, who wants to get knowledge. You must know that the university lecture is not the only way to get knowledge. As you can see, there are many books. There is also the internet, and other media, which have much more information than books. It means there is some different thing, which only books can give. Let’s go to the library or bookstore to find out what it is!
