Follow the driving rules in the Campus!

Dear Herald,

I would like to speak about the senseless driving habits on our campus.  In Seoul Chung-Ang university campus, a student committee has charges for parking a car. So if you want to go to the campus with your car, you have to pay the bill. It’s really expensive. On the contrary, Anseong campus doesn’t take parking fee so many professors and students take their car to campus without any charge. For me, it’s really helpful to drive my car to campus. Because it’s free!
So you can easily see many parked cars in Anseong. But, to some of owners, I want to remind and warn them about their driving habit. They should remember that they are in a university and drive their cars with manners.
Not all, but a few senselessness drivers open their car window and play the music very loudly. They maybe want to showoff their great sound system. Some other people  lack common sense and tuned up his or her car’s intake and exhaust system, making a tremendous noise. They also want to showoff how fast their car can be. At times, some idiots speed in the campus area. Do you think it’s awesome? Do you think that looks pretty fancy? I say “No!”.
People come to university to study their major, and prepare for the entrance exam or interview to get a job not to listen a loud music or engine sound. They want quiet space to study. Freaking big noise and speeding with exhaust sound really isn't helpful to them.
Sometimes I ask people who does make a great noise, please be a little bit quite. Mostly, they just ignore me. But come on, there are some rules to keep. You can’t just do whatever you want to do. Don’t be a selfish person. I hope you to take a big look around and find the campus is for everybody, not just for you.
As a owner of the car, I could understand that kind of person’s behavior because occasionally if I’m too stressed, I also do the same thing. But folks! Not in the campus!!!

Dear Herald Editor.
At first, let me introduce myself. My name is Huynh Thi Thu Thao and I am a Vietnamese exchange student who came here at the end of August. I have to say that from the first day I was here, I was  impressed by the beautiful nature of CAU Campus. Everything here seemed to be perfect  to me. However, there is nothing perfect on this earth. And the only thing makes me uncomfortable is the traffic in our Campus. Professors, students and busses mix with the flow of students walking in the street. Don’t you think it is so dangerous?

I once was very frightened when a car suddenly appeared behind me ( in front of Foreign Language Department) and another time also there was a car suddenly stopping by me when I was walking in the Campus. Another  problem is that the buses  run with a very fast speed even in our crowded Campus. Don’t you see that? I hope that all the problems I mentioned above will be addressed and solved by the administration as soon as possible. Goodbye and good luck.

Huynh Thi Thu Thao

The Chung-Ang campus in Anseong is kept clean due to the hard work and diligence of the groundskeepers and maintenance crew.  Thanks to them, the campus is kept litter-free and pleasant.  So, it is always a shock for me when I step foot in Neri.  The whole atmosphere changes.  Suddenly, there are wrappers lining the sides of the streets, piles of trash on the sidewalks, bottles overflowing the ledges of closed food stalls, and tape left behind on the pavement from advertisements.

Why is there such a stark contrast between two neighboring areas, both occupied by the same population?  Have students become lazy because the Chung-Ang staff is constantly cleaning up after them?  Are the students apathetic toward their environment?

As a resident, professor and community member of Chung-Ang University in Neri, I would like to encourage everyone to do their part to keep Neri clean.  It is easy if everyone takes responsibility for their own waste ? Just throw away your trash in a garbage can or take it home with you.  If you display advertisements, gather them when they are no longer relevant to avoid excess litter.  Have some pride in your school and community, help keep it clean and pleasant for everyone.

Dear editors of the Chung-Ang Herald:
My name is Birry; I am an International exchange student from China. I am studying on Anseong campus. I came to Korea on this February, since then I read almost every month’s English version of Chung-Ang Herald. I think it is a pretty good English magazine. The words in it are powerful, spotlighting hot topics ranging from campus news to Koran social events, economy, world news and global environment. The Herald's content focuses on things concern and interest the students. I enjoy  reading this magazine so much. And, I learn a lot about Korean society and its people.
In the latest edition of English Herald, there was an interview with International exchange students who study in Chung-Ang University nowadays. They talked about their feeling of life in Korea as an International student.  Some of the experiences are also felt in my own case, so I am interested. I hope you  continue to do this kind of interview and highlight it in your magazine, because I really think this is a good opportunity for both Korean students and international students to get to know each other. We can also understand some Culture shocks or different customs we will experience if we live in Korea or other countries as a foreigner. Through this kind of interview, Korean students will know more about the International students and it will improve communication betwen them. I hope more and more Korean students and International students can become good friends by the influence of this interview and the Herald.
At last, I hope Chung-Ang Herald will become better and better! Also , I hope more and more people get know and enjoy reading your magazine!
