re you familiar with elephant lanterns? How about the lanterns of a mom with her baby held on her back? There is even a dragon lantern floating around the pond with a tree lantern beside it. Through the silent darkness, these lanterns are steadily glowing, showing off their gorgeous shapes and colors. They each have stories, most of them wishing people a long life of happiness. The priest who is in charge of these Korean traditional lanterns said, “It is not the outside of the lantern that we are trying to turn on, it is the enlightenment of people that we wish to make it bright.” We all care about the outside, how fancy it is, or how magnificent it is. But, in the end, it is what is inside that we need to make it glow, it is the purpose of these traditional lanterns.
