■ About Tianjin Foreign Studies University

Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU) was founded in 1964. As one of eight such universities in China , it offers a number of language and cultural programs to Chinese and overseas students of various educational backgrounds. The main campus and Binhai campus occupy an area of 1,500 mu with a floor space of nearly 200,000 square meters. Most of its buildings are in the classical and elegant Western European style. The clean and quiet campus is an ideal place for the teaching and study of foreign languages, of international trade and economics, and for foreign studies and academic research.

The university offers 30 programs in over 20 specialties, namely, English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese Language & Culture, Journalism, World Economy and Trade, Law, Finance, Educational Technology, and Information Management and Information Systems. Moreover, the university also offers certificate and non-certificate education to students of different educational background. Administratively under the university are the Faculty of Graduate Studies, the School of Sinology, the Further Education School, the Institute of Translation Studies, the Institute of Comparative Studies of Chinese and Foreign Culture, Advanced Educational Technology Center, and the Affiliated Secondary Foreign Languages School.

 

■ Admission Process

1. Send for information materials from International Students Section of Foreign Affairs Office.
2. Submit your application form with certificate of guarantee and 6 photos (3×
4cm) 40 days before school starts Then, with your JW 201or 202, Admission Notice, Physical Examination Record for Foreigners sent by the school, get y our X visa from the Chinese Embassy or Consulate at your home country.
3. If help is needed upon arrival, written information on flight number etc. is sent to us. Transportation fee is charged as per exact price. Shuttle bus from Beijing to Tianjin is available outside Beijing Airport.(To come to TFSU, it takes 3 hours from Beijing Airport, 30 minutes from Tianjin Airport, 10 minutes from Tianjin Railway Station).
4. Registration, Payment, Lodging arrangement.
5. Submit to International Students Section your Admission Notice, tuition receipt and original copy of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners, passport.
6. Get your Student ID, a school calendar. Take a grading exam Concerned information on teaching arrangements and relative law knowledge is provided.
7. Get your textbooks, start your life and study at TFSU.
Note: short-term trainees may be exempt from physical examination.

 

■ Certificates

All documents and certificates have been censored and provided according to the rules and regulations of relevant authorities. The following documents and certificates are very important for students during the period of studies at TFSU.

 Students should prepare required material and know basic process for obtaining the related documents and certificates.

■ Accommodation

There is three options for international students to live on the campus of TFSU: Building A, Building B and Building C.

  The residence is cleaned periodically by cleaners, and the bed articles are replaced regularly.
  The duration of residence depends on the student's individual request. Postponement of paying rent is unacceptable. If the students are in arrears on payment, they are required to pay a late fee of up to 5% of the total accommodation fee. If international students want to live off-campus, they should checkout first and return the key to the reception. (Contact OIS for details regarding off-campus living.)

 

Insurance
 TFSU requires that international students should possess medical insurance during their period of studies. Accidental injuries and hospitalization at least should be covered in the insurance purchased by students. According to relevant regulations, the Chinese government will purchase insurance for scholarship students under the socialized medical care system. International students without socialized medical care should purchase insurance by themselves. Students can choose to purchase insurance in either their own country or here in China.
