Information for Study abroad program with CAU
Visiting International students may enroll at UB for one semester or for an entire academic year. Arrangements for these students are coordinated through the UB academic programs which will liaise with the student's home college or university.
Requests to accept Visiting International students are initiated by the office at the students' college or university responsible for study-abroad programs.  Depending on the courses to be offered and space availability, UB may not be able to accommodate all requests. Before arriving, students must submit a program plan for the duration of study at UB. This study plan should be signed by the student's academic advisor and a representative from the International Students office of the student's home university.  Normally the courses the student will take at UB will be from those identified by UB as courses relevant to African Studies. Any change in the study plan must be approved by the student's advisor by e-mail. Visiting International Students will be enrolled full-time and will live on campus.

Program Implementation

Students will arrive two weeks before the beginning of the academic year (approximately 1st August) or immediately when UB reopens after the Christmas holiday. The time before classes start will be spent settling in, and participating in a required intensive cultural introduction program prepared and conducted by the UB International Studies Office.
An agreement will be negotiated with each student's home college or university to arrange direct transfer of funds for payment of required fees. Overall expenses include:  tuition, room and board, a student activity fee, a book allowance, health insurance, a personal allowance, and a research fee (when applicable). The UB fee schedule itemizes the costs charged by UB. A transcript of each semester's academic work will be provided to the students' home college or university, as requested.
The UB International Studies Office will be responsible for arranging a selection of optional trips for students during holidays.  At the end of the semester, students may return home directly or may do additional travel.  For those who travel, the responsibility of the student's home college or university is to have a written authorization for such travel from the student's parent or guardian, and the responsibility of UB is to assist students in making travel arrangements by recommending a travel agent.
