The myo-jok, one of the Chinese tribes, has a tradition of killing a chicken as a first step in their wedding ceremonies. One of bride’s parents chooses a person to kill a chicken. When the chicken is dead, the chosen one soaks the chicken in hot water. Then, if the chicken’s eyes are opened, the wedding is cancelled.
