The keyword for this November is ‘report’. To report means to tell people about a subject or an event that you experienced or encountered. As reporters of Chung-Ang Herald, our major task is to analyze and report the information we learn from various channels. On the left, there are famous sayings quotes about press and newspapers. The upper box is withhas sayings that showingshows great importance of the press and in the other box presents sayings withwe can see a more cynical view toward the press.

I think that the sayings from in both boxes arose from the significant role that the press bears. The upper sayings put emphasis on the merits the press can give when functioninged properly. On the other hand, other sayings are focused on the demerits that can result from the malfunction of the press. The Press press, with its justice and freedom, is regarded as guardian of the citizens. They reveal social, economic and political evils and corruption. They are a mirror to the heart of the poor. They protect the liberty of the people and safeguard their rights. They awaken national consciousness and raise mental and moral standard of people. On the contrary, the a press corrupt with press with corruption and greed works for the rich and the powerful. They blind themselves and citizens from the truth. Their mouth and papers are filed with despicable lies. They make ill of a healthy society.

When we watch an American movies about court and trials, there is a procedure that which witnesses has have to go through before testifying in the court. One must raise their right hand and swear that he or she would “tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.” I think that this oath is something that is needed for reporters alsoas well. We, Chung-Ang Herald, promise you that our articles will contain the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. We also give our word that we would put our best effort to protect the liberty and rights of the students.
