Working holiday presentation by Ministry of Foreign Affair and Trade held in CAU

These days, almost every university student had has thought of going abroad to study, work, or just travel. A Working working holiday, which is a great opportunity for the student to go abroad, is a booming more of a trend these days. Reflecting the trend CAU hosted the ‘Working holiday presentation’ in the at R&D center on October 6th to provide useful information about working holiday. Working The working holiday info center, which is under part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs And Trade, was glad to see many CAU students gather to attend the presentation.
First, they gave information about working holiday country by country. So far Korea has concluded a working holiday treaty with 11 countries-Australia, Canada, Ireland, France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan- and they also mentioned that they are working on the a treaty with the United Kingdom which is expected to conclude happen next year. After that, they provided information about the working holiday visa. Then students had opportunities to ask questions regarding about visas.
Then, one of the working holiday supporters, ‘Yook Eun-ji’, who’s majorsing in special education department at Gong-ju university)’ gave a presentation about her experience at in Australia. Yook stayed in Australia for 1 and a half years as a working holiday student. She lived in many cities in Australia such as Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne, and etc. Since she lived in so many cities in Australia, she experienced many different kinds of work. According to her, the most memorable work was as an ‘Aupair’. Aupair is a similar work of nanny and babysitter. Yook said that beingbring an Aupair is especially good opportunity for worker because it provides free housing and food. Also workers can improve their English skills by talking speaking English every day, and workers can experience the nation’s own culture. Yook shared her experiences and then gave some useful tips for the students who want to participate on in a working holiday, about specific websites and agencies. Overall, the presentation was successful and the students seemed satisfied. Some students were really satisfied because it was a useful presentation and other students hoped that school could would continue to provide other useful presentations like this.
