During the orientation held at the Department of Technology, Hurrah-C did a performance to welcome the freshmen. Every freshman was assembled in the large hall to watch the performance. At first, Hurrah-C danced along with action songs that consisted of very hard dance routines. Familiar songs like ‘To You(Gu-dae-ae-gae)’ by MuHanGweDo and ‘Show’ by Kim Won-Jun started the performance under the spotlight. Students were shouting with joy. Under the captain's guide members of Hurrah-C danced in a group according to his whistle blows. One look at their performance, and it was no doubt that they had worked effortlessly to deliver the routine perfectly.
In the middle of the song, two men from the members of Hurrah-C came on the stage. Along with the melody, students put their arms around each other’s shoulders and all made one perfect body. These moves showed Hurrah-C's pride as an on campus cheerleading team. After two consecutive songs, recent popular songs burst out of the speakers like ‘I Am The Best’ by 2ne1 and ‘Red sunset’ by BigBang.
Many students were moving towards the stage, jumping with his or her friends and singing along. The captain and members of Hurrah-C seemed to have forgotten all the exhaustion from practicing, and students were also eager to cheer along. It was like a popular singer’s concert and a club in Hong-dae. With the last song ‘Train to the South’, students grasped the person’s shoulder in front them and got in line to make a big train. Towards the end they were yelling out with excitement!

The history of Hurrah-C
It started as a dance club at first, but was soon registered as a formal cheering squad. With it, the Hurrah-C we know of today came into existence. There are eight members in total, forming the whole squad. During campus events like festivals and large games on campus, they did their performance to cheer players. The meaning of Hurrah –C is as follows.

Chung-ang Herald met the 32nd captain of Hurrah-C.

1.     This year, during the freshmen orientation, Hurrah-C did a performance. What kind of message were you trying to send out to students? How long did you prepare for the performance?

This year, due to the cut in tuition, we were not able to perform in all departments. So we only went to the orientation held at the Department of Technology. In the past, we performed at some ceremonies, mainly the entrance ceremonies. The reason why Hurrah-C holds performances every year is to celebrate the incoming new freshmen as they become a part of Chung-ang University. In a way, showing our performances is an indirect way of attracting student's interest and inviting them to join our squad for the new year.

For large performances like LUCAUS, we come to the practice room every day to prepare and practice with fellow members. Of course, we do not practice this hard every day. The action songs that have continuously been performed by our seniors in the past include hard movements. We not only dance along with these action songs, but also dance along with popular songs that the majority of the students like listening to. We select the songs and make our own choreography. At relatively big events like basketball matches, we perform in between the matches and these performances need a lot of preparation. In case of small events, there is not a lot of time for us to perform, which means less time for us to prepare.
Of course, owing to early LUCAUS, freshmen may have a hard time practicing and it may be hard for them to instantly present themselves on stage. Therefore, new members will have to spend much time practicing. They may not be able to have as much free time for the first month, May. If they do not practice hard, they will not be able to show off their full potential on stage.

3.     Are there any problems Hurrah-C is facing right now? Do you have possible solutions for them? Compared to Yonsei University's Akaraka, which is very famous for having big stages, what do you think makes Hurrah-C special?

I think recruiting new members is the biggest problem of all, because not a lot of students seem to be interested in cheerleading. Originally we were invited to perform at the entrance ceremonies, but now it is different. Therefore, more and more members do not want to enter. Of course, we have had problems introducing our groups to students. We will definitely have to figure out ways to promote our squad's value and status. The reason why we cannot become like Akaraka is the lack of promoting. Also, the view of the seniors is rather different from Yonsei University. While Akaraka serves a purpose of creating a friendly bond between members, Hurrah-C mainly serves the purpose of preparing a show. In other words, this means that the main focus of our cheering squad is to prepare members for a performance, not merely to make friends and socialize.
4.     Explain Hurrah-C in one word.

Passion
Hurrah-C can make my campus life something new~! It is different from ordinary campus life like doing an assignment or going and coming to campus! You make it worthwhile with your passion and will!

5.     Three things that you can get in Hurrah –C
Patience
Relationship
Specification

6.     Introduce Hurrah –C to freshmen
Many seniors who have not had any experience in Hurrah-C might have said, “If you go there, you will not be able to endure. Surely you will quit soon." These comments give a misconception to freshmen and hamper them from entering Hurrah-C. It is wrong to assume these remarks as being true. Also many students may be worried about the practice time during exam periods. As is with all other clubs, we do not demand so much time during the exam period, and members may not be asked to come to the office during this time. I think university student should work while they work, play while they play.
Recruiting time officially starts after the first 2~3 weeks of the first semester, but we are open to accepting new students all throughout the semester! We can teach all motions no matter how hard the motions may be in a calm and instructive way. Above all, I think students should have courage. They might think that because they did not use their bodies in high-school, they worry that dancing might not be something fit for them. However all the members will kindly teach you all the movements, so new students need not worry about that. Joining Hurrah-C, students may be able to conquer their fear to dance.

Besides, we do not hold any tryouts. We will welcome all students who want to enter Hurrah-C.

From this year, we will recruit Chung-Ang University students in An-seong. I know that students in An-seong are very hard to come to Heuk-suk, so we will not take away much time. If they are worried about traffic facilities, Office of Student Affairs will be able to solve that problem.

Introduce myself!
My name is Shin Woo-heum
I major in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and I am a sophomore.
Beginning this year, I will become the captain of the cheering squad.
If I had other competitors who also wanted to become the captain of Hurrah-C, there would have been an election. Fortunately, I had no competitors. When I first joined the squad, I was very satisfied to work among other members, but as time went by, I wanted to stand in the center of the stage. I think cheerleading is the essence of Hurrah-C, so it is very attractive~! As a captain, I may have the conflict of seniors, because although I am the captain, some members are older than me. Also, of course, most freshmen are the same age as me, but a few members might be older than me. At this point, it troubles my mind. Nonetheless, I will be able to overcome these problems wisely. My goal is to inform as many students as I can about our squad. I hope many freshmen join Hurrah-C.

In the baseball stadium and basketball stadium, there are many cheerleaders. Can you imagine the stadiums without cheerleaders? Of course the match itself may provide pleasure to the viewers. Stadiums without cheerleaders however, cannot be imagined. We have to remember that cheerleaders at the stadium are not just cheerleaders.
