A charity bazaar was held on the plaza lawn in front of The Research and Development (R&D) Center Building for three consecutive days – from May 7th to 9th, 2012. It was held by The School of Art and Design in order to raise development funds for its department. Its sponsors include The Chung-Ang University Labor Union. Additionally, Tuscarora and Ansmode are clothing industries that have participated. Many students must have seen the bazaar when they walk along the road from the main gate. There were a number of colorful and nice-looking clothes displayed around the table, and a few people were standing there to sell the items. Students stared at the bazaar with curious looks, and some of them showed interest. CAH had a chance to talk with one of the members who is in charge of the bazaar project on the last day of the event. “Actually, this bazaar event is not as successful as we expected. I think this is because the number of clothing industries is too few. Two is not enough, I believe. However, this event is very meaningful to us because it is one of the events that we have prepared for, and it gave us a chance to advertise our department. We didn’t set our goal too high in the first place. On the first day, many students and professors of Fashion Design stopped by here and looked around the process. We are emphasizing the opening of a bazaar itself, not the result,” she stated. She also added that the funds raised by the bazaar are going to be used to hold many activities that the Fashion Design students will do. These activities may include exhibitions and decorating inside of the buildings by placing artistic works. The funds raised will help develop the overall school of Fashion and Design.
