Many CAU students who came to school through the back gate should have seen young students with thickly powdered faces and wearing beautiful dresses dancing in front of The Art Center. They were the students of elementary, middle, and high schools from all over the country, who were planning to take part in the 32nd dancing contest held at The Art Center. They were busy practicing their movements with coaches and many of them looked nervous. The dancing contest was held from May 9th to 11th. The contest was divided into three parts. The first day of the contest was to hold a modern dance contest. The second was for Korean traditional dance, and the last day of the contest was for Ballet. The time that elementary school students danced was limited to one minute and thirty seconds, while it was two minutes for middle and high school students. Inside the waiting room at the Art center were many parents, participants, artists, and make-up tools. The contest was on progress all day. Inside the grand theater, each student showed their dances in front of the audience. The winners were announced after each age group’s contest. Hence, students could immediately see their results and get the prizes. The awards included grand, first, second, third, and participating prizes. Not only students, but also guilds were awarded. The awards for the guide includes choreographer prize and guide prize. The object of the contest was to educate students. They gave an opportunity, to all who were interested in dancing, to experience the real feeling of dancing on a stage, and expressing themselves by dancing. Also, it is held to cast talented students to give them special education, which would consequently contribute to the development of dancing. The panels at the contest were composed of CAU professors and other professors who are selected by a steering committee.
