“All grown-ups were once children - although few of them remember it.”

We were all once children. Do you remember your childhood? Were you a good child? Were you an innocent child? Were you able to see an elephant in the Boa constrictor’s stomach? Can you remember? There is a place where you can seize your unremembered innocence of childhood. <The Little Prince Special exhibition in Korea>

The Little Prince and Saint-Exupery
If you read ‘The Little Prince’, even just one time, you will remember the picture of a Boa constrictor that swallowed an elephant. Grown-ups answered that it was a picture of a hat but it was a boa constrictor. The little prince recognized it at once. A pilot, the main character of the book ‘The Little Prince’, didn’t reveal his identity until the end of the book. Readers naturally think the pilot is the writer Saint-Exupery. He often tell his friends that he had really met the little prince. He even sometimes thinks he is the pilot from the book. You can also see the Little Prince in his letter at the exhibition. Saint-Exupery disappeared one day while on his flight. This fact overlapped his novel ‘the little prince’ which was written a few years ago before his disappearance. It seems he went to meet the little prince. Maybe this is one of the reasons why the novel ‘The Little Prince’ is so loved. Although his death was sad, it was indeed like a fairytale. Some readers believe that Saint-Exupery is alive somewhere with the Little Prince.

1st Exhibit hall – Event Hall
At Event Hall, you can see illustrations from ‘The Little Prince’ and pictures of the great French writer ‘Saint-Exupery.' The pictures were drawn while preparing to write ‘The Little Prince’. You can come across the familiar pictures that represent the book throughout the exhibition.
“Frightened? Why should anyone be frightened by a hat?”
“If, for example, you come at four o’clock in the afternoon, then at three o’clock I shall begin to be happy.”
“But in herself alone she is more important than all the hundreds of you other roses”
“What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well…”

In addition, at the event hall, you can see the letters Saint-Exupery wrote to his friends and manuscripts that are filled with his humor and personality. In his letter, you can know that he wrote as if he is real little prince or his friend. You will see that the Little Prince meant a lot to him. There are also 30 different translations of the book. Moreover, the first edition of The Little Prince printed in 1943 is displayed along with Saint-Exupery's signature. There are also many photos that allow viewers to understand Saint-Exupery’s life as a writer, pilot, journalist and philosopher. You will be able to appreciate his life, philosophy, and his world of work by looking at the documentary and the coat Saint-Exupery wore during his living years.

2nd Exhibit Hall – Design Gallery
In design gallery, you can see a book table where you can read The Little Prince first. Among these books, a pop-up book that makes pictures come to life, is the most popular book. Inside the design Gallery there is Inner Space, a recreation of the planet Little Prince lived in. As you enter the very small entrance, you can see a video of the Little Prince. On the wall, there are lots of messages that people who came to the exhibition wrote. Children and adults alike all leave a note. There is also an event. The person who leaves the most memorable message is given the chance to win a round trip ticket to France. If you go this exhibition, write a letter to ‘The little prince in your mind’. Don't miss this wonderful event.

Dongdaemun History & Culture Park

Famous national artists made all of these. In addition, there are wonderful events with the main theme circling around The Little Prince. No ticket is required to visit the park. Why not go to the park on a sunny day and read the Little Prince? You will be able to revisit your childhood on your way.
