From Tuesday September 4th to Thursday September 6th, ‘The 7th 2012 CAU’s Career Fair’ was held in the Gym (305) on CAU. More than a hundred domestic and foreign enterprises including Doosan, Samsung, LG, POSCO, Olleh KT, Korea Gas Corporation, and Abercrombie & Fitch, participated and offered information about employment to students and graduates. The companies which participate in the fair were selected based on Maeil Business Newspaper, which selects top 100 companies every April by comparing the sales of companies, and CAU’s career forum. In addition, the result of the survey by CAU students was reflected this year. The fair was governed by Chung-ang Human Resource Development Center and Hankyung Disco and sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. On the first day of the event, Park Yong-sung, chairman of the board, and Ann Kook-shin, the president of CAU, called on each booth of the enterprise and conveyed their gratitude. Park said that “I hope that both the school and enterprises put up the good results.” Ann also gave encouragements to the students by saying that “I hope that students find the work that fit for each of them.”

What’s New about CAU’s 2012 Career Fair?
This year’s fair is divided into three parts; recruiting agent section, consulting section, and career offering event section. This year the ‘Recruiting Agent Section’ and ‘Career Offering Event Section‘ were newly established. At recruiting agent section, not only the booths for the domestic major companies but public enterprises such as KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Corporation), which students place high interest on, were arranged. Some companies including Doosan and CJ held employment briefing session during the fair. The employment briefing session gave practical information about their recruiting plan that is planned for the second half of the year. Some companies’ briefing sessions were ran by high-ranking officials. Doosan had their session on the 6th from 3 to 5p.m. in the auditorium of the R&D Center by Chairman Park Yong-man in person. At the career offering event section, students took a ‘personality and intelligence test’. Students were able to test themselves with the personality and intelligence tests which the major companies favored. There was also a photo zone for the students who wanted to take resume pictures. If the student wore formal dress, they took picture for the students for free. Other than this, students could also have their letter of self-introduction checked. “We prepared for the students who are preparing to get a job to give much information about the recruitment. We expanded the event center which had some complaints last year for not having enough.” said Choi Jae-hoon from Chung-ang Human Resource Development Center.

Interview with a Student (Senior, majored in law)
1. What were the good points of CAU’s 2012 Career Fair?
It was nice to have a lot of companies in one place. I could get information of various companies easily. Each company told me the atmosphere of the company and certificates that are advantagous to enter the company. I also asked about the criteria of admission and tips for the interview and employment exam. It was really helpful.

2. What are the things that you think should be improved in the next Career Fair?
I was satisfied with it mostly. However, I think it would be better to have the booths classified by the type of the business. It would be much easier to find the booths and also would be comfortable to compare the companies with similar business.
