On October 9th, 2012, the first Chung-Ang University Marathon Festival, Dalryoe (run in Korean) was held to celebrate 94th Chung-Ang University’s school anniversary. Any CAU people (students from Seoul/Anseong Campuses, undergraduates, alumni, faculties and etc.) could participate to the marathon. This festival was hosted by The CAU V student council and student supporting department at the Seoul campus and supported by The CAU Alumni Association, Adidas, and ABC Mart. Approximately 1,000 CAU people participated. Not only Korean students but also foreign students participated. There was a 10km course for men and a 5km course for women. The marathon uniform made by Adidas was given to participants, navy for men and purple for women. Two hours is given to the participants to finish the marathon. The festival began with stretching and a brief extemporary stage to loosen up followed by the race. In order to prevent overload, participants were separated into three groups; the first group for those who wish to break the record, and the second group for those who want to have fun with friends, and the last group for those who are the marathon beginners. In case of accidents, a police car was included in the front and another followed from the back. Additionally, The CAU V bought accident insurance and placed safety guards. If there is something wrong with participants, they can be carried by an ambulance. After the marathon, finishing certificates and medals were given to all the participants and winners (the first, the second, and the third for each course were awarded). The first prize’s record for men was 38 minutes and for women was 33 minutes. This festival was a huge success with many CAU people’s participation.
