We often think that it is necessary for us to study various fields of knowledge, which are not involved in the regular course of our majors. In relation to this, the College of Liberal Education has run the 'DaVinci Academy' 4 times. It is a program that is designed to increase students' learning efficiency by helping them establish a curriculum for themselves which they could not study in their regular course or that they want to study. This also helps the study group students manage their studies. When students complete a curriculum, the school recognizes it as 1 grade. They can complete up to 2 courses of these kinds of curriculum while they attend school; so then they will come to receive 2 grades.

CAH visited Ghym Chae-geun, who is a team leader in the Da Vinci College of General Education, to look into the 'DaVinci Academy'.

CAH : What is the difference between the 2014 DaVinci Academy program compared to that of 2013?

Ghym : There has been no difference. This is the 4th time the project has been instituted. So far, we have accepted almost every proposal, such as certificates for English and various subjects to encourage students. However, we will strictly review the proposals, so that the program maximizes the essential liberal arts knowledge and increases participation in study of non-major subjects.

CAH : How can the 'DaVinci Academy' curriculum affect students after they graduate?

Ghym : I don't think it will greatly affect the individuals. However, I believe it has three advantages. First of all, students can establish a plan they are interested in. Second, recruiting friends and managing the process throughout the year will help them. And lastly, the interaction among students in the group is a positive social activity.
