Did you see a booth on the CAU plaza lawn on October 9th? It was the CAU Global Fair that opened from 12p.m. to 5p.m that day. It was a fair for students who are interested in participating in exchange student programs. For students’ convenience, the foreign exchange students from schools that are in a sister relationship with CAU gathered and set up the booths. They promoted the exchange student programs in their schools and also the school itself, with passion.

The fair was divided into three time settings. Time slot 1 was from 12:00p.m to 2:30p.m, time slot 2 was from 2:30p.m to 5p.m and time slot 3 was from 12p.m to 5p.m. Each university notified what time they would open the booths on the time table. It was convenient for students to look around the university booths that they were interested in, at the right time.. There were universities from all over the globe including 12 schools from North and South America, 37 schools from Asia and Oceania, and 26 schools from Europe. In total, 257 students took part in the fair, providing souvenirs and pamphlets.

Also, there were 5 special booths at the fair.  Firstly, there was the ‘Capture CAU Moments’ booth, which displayed photographs that were taken by CAU students when they were participating in one of the exchange student programs. Next to the booth, there was a photo wall booth (the second booth), where students could take pictures in front of the photo wall. There was also an event here where students could participate as well. The third booth was the CAU international exchange team’s booth. Students could get consultation on the exchange student program, the short-term program, and the entrance examination for foreign students at CAU. The fourth booth was the Global Ambassador’s booth where students could get information about the recruitment of Global Ambassadors and the activities they do. The last booth was the English/French Lounge booth that offered some information about using the lounge. Additionally, the English/French Lounge is a space for any CAU student who wants to communicate in foreign languages and to interact with foreign students.

Interview with a participant (Anonymous)

Q: How was the Global Fair?

A: I was surprised that so many foreign exchange students in CAU are studying together with us. I learnt a lot about their cultures by the students’ introductions about their countries and their schools. In particular, the university from Taiwan and the spicy snacks offered by the Indonesian university were impressive.
