There might have been times you were all in a fluster when rain was dripping down and you did not have an umbrella in your hand. No need to blame yourself for not checking the weather forecast or the inaccurate meteorological office. There is a place for CAU students to ensure a dry way home. Student council provides not only umbrellas for the students, but also essential goods. Apart from student council, the student support team used to lend exercise equipment and other items. However, there have been major changes that students may not have noticed. Let’s check out more about the lending service at CAU.

1. In Need of Necessities at Campus?
Although there are slight differences in each department, these are the kinds of goods available in most places. First of all, there are around 30 umbrellas prepared and charging equipment waiting for you. In the case of charging equipment, it can be categorized into auxiliary batteries, chargers and charger cables. Since there are both kinds for iPhones and androids, you will not have any problems finding one that suits your phone. Not only that, there are products that can be used for daily life, such as slippers and hair straighteners. The lending service is not all. There are also simple consumables such as toothbrushes and toothpaste. For more detailed information, it is recommended to take a look at the notice of each individual’s department. Just in case you did not know, make sure to bring your student ID card before running to the student council. Also, double check the duration you are able to borrow.
2. Student Support Team, No Longer on the Front Line
According to the CAU homepage, it is stated that the student support team runs a lending service as part of students’ welfare. Various kinds of balls were available and during election seasons, ballot boxes and election booths were lent. However, it is not the same now. CAH met with the head of the student support team at school Building 207.
Q: Tell us more about the changes that are not yet updated on the school homepage.
A: To begin with, we stopped lending balls to students since the school yards were cleared out. Instead, we delivered them to school club association to be distributed to each suitable club. Also, since 2012, we no longer provided students with electronic election booths. It was an inevitable choice, because in spite of the high costs, damages were incurred every time they were returned. As for a simpler version of election booths, they were destroyed after usage and we do not have plans for another purchase. Ballot boxes are thrown away as they are too old to be used. Now, we only lend walkie-talkies during school performances. Nowadays most of the lending services are taking place at student council. Instead of actually lending goods, we at the student support team helps student council contact companies or we even buy products by proxy.
It is a great relief that there is some place to get help when unexpected situations occurs on campus. However, we should not take the convenience for granted. CAU students should always keep in mind that these goods are public property. Therefore, although it sounds obvious, it is important to return them on time and in the same condition that were lent to you. As the head of the student support team stressed during the interview, students should not care about things only when they are in need. In order to provide more students with the services for a longer time, our efforts to follow basic rules are requested.
