There are lots of issues that students face while they are dining out at the cafeterias. Let’s explore such issues in detail and then find out what our school can improve for all students. 1. Causes of the Issues and ProblemsDue to the lack of ticket machines at the food courts, they are often overcrowded especially during peak hours. There is usually only one ticket machine for each of, cash and credit card. As a result, this creates long lines in front of the cafeterias. Moreover, sometimes when students stand in a long queue in a cafeteria and then their turn comes to place orders, they discover that the food item they wanted to order is not available. This not only gives students stress, but also irritation towards the operators. This leads to not only frustration, but also a lot more stress for them as they must wait again for another line. Students are very irritated because they just wasted their valuable time and their energy. It is true that this does not occur often, but it is a fact that this occurs frequently for students, especially for those who try to eat at the dorm cafeteria. Most of the menu items are around 3,000 won. Since most of the food at the food court is cost effective, it helps students to reduce their financial burdens. Furthermore, Se-jong University is known as “Gwangjin- gu’s famous restaurant”. Therefore, Se-jong’s cafeteria is not only famous among the university’s students, but also among the city citizens as well. Moreover, on one of the Korean popular TV shows called “Tasty Guys,” Se-jong’s food court was introduced as one of the famous restaurants in Gwan-gin gu. Through this TV program, more and more people now know Se-jong University as one of the top universities that has amazing and excellent cafeterias. Strong Merits That Only Exists at Chung-Ang UniversityOne of the strong merits that Chung-Ang University has is that Building 308 provides unlimited rice along with Korean “Kim,” which is seaweed. Chung-Ang University students can have more rice, seaweed, kim-chi, and yellow-pickled radish as much as they want. This means that all students can have enough food every time they buy a meal at the cafeteria. In addition, our university is famous for having a burger restaurant with our own school brand name. This gives pride and joy for Chung-Ang University’s students for no other university has it. Finding Solutions and Hope for ImprovementsFirstly, establishing more ticket machines in front of the cafeteria is necessary for students. Cafeterias and food courts are places where a lot of students spend their daily lives. If there are enough machines for students to use for payment, there is no need for students to stand in a long queue to order food. This definitely eliminates the long queues even when there are heavy rushes at the cafeterias. As a result, students will place their orders faster without having to wait for a slow circulation time. Secondly, our cafeterias would be considered as more as an excellent food courts if the school increases the quality of food. Having a nutritious diet is extremely important for the brain. Since good quality of food directly impacts learning performance, it is extremely essential for students. It is proven that access to proper nutrition can help students maintain psychosocial status and reduce frustration towards school work. Hence, it is the school’s task to not only establish more ticket machines, but also to provide better quality food for students. Chung-Ang University needs to fix this situation as soon as possible before students stand up for their inconveniences.
