CAU has opened a new mobile application and reorganized the website of the academic information system. By using the mobile app, students can check notices from the school library, search library resources, find out about the present condition of borrowed books, and pay late payments. The reformed website provides more simple and more comfortable menus. To learn more about the new app and homepage, CAH asked some questions to the CAU Academic Information Team.

Interview with CAU Academic Information Team
CAH: Is there any special reason to open the mobile application?
▶ As the supply of smart phones, tablet PCs, and other devices are growing rapidly, the students' demand to access academic information service homepages in the mobile environment has increased. The reason why we deployed the mobile app is because there were users who prefer to access the system on their mobiles. Moreover, to support the mobile late payment system, we have to have a dedicated app to meet the requirements of financial security certification standards. Therefore, we have to provide a separate application for the Academic Information Service.
CAH: What is the difference between connecting to a PC and using a mobile app?
▶ PC and mobile apps have different handset environments and characteristics, so we don't offer all of the same services offered on the PC platform, but we have deployed most of our services to ensure that they are able to be fully utilized by the app. The menus, instructions, and personalization functions are configured first, while video lecture services that are not available in a mobile environment and other menus that are not used as frequently are not provided in the app. In addition, using the smart phone's camera, when you click on the bar code icon to apply for the desired book application, it automatically fills out information such as authors, publishers, and prices through a database search.
CAH: The website of the CAU Academic Information Service was reorganized during this winter vacation. Please tell us about some of the changes and improvements.
▶ The updated Smart Library website offers a simpler way of organizing menus with a clearer overview that is spread out more than before. We focused on the entire page to be shown similar to when connected in a mobile environment. In addition, by excluding all non-standard web components (Active-X, Flash, etc.), it is compatible with most general browsers such as IE, Chrome, and Firefox. We've also added a dashboard area in the “My Library” section to greatly enhance the level of personalization by allowing individuals to view the status of their loans, schedules, delays, sanctions, and other sanctions at a glance.
The CAU Academic Information Team also asked students to actively participate in various programs and lectures through the new mobile app and website. CAH hopes students to have even more convenient school lives with the smart library!
