In the 2018 Post Season of Major League Baseball, which was intense from the Wildcard Series, the Boston Red Sox in the American League (AL) and the LA Dodgers in the National League (NL) finally met in the World Series (WS), having beaten their competitors in each league. On Oct 29th, The Red Sox finally got the World Series Ring. This year’s World Series was so fierce in that the third game lasted a record time of 7 hours and 20 minutes. However, it was remarkable not only due to the record of the third game but also because a story which took place after the game touched people. This is the story of Mookie Betts.

Mookie Betts was a boy who was talented at every kind of sports. There was a big adversity in his childhood. When he was 12, he was seriously injured by a car accident, which made him stay in hospital for a while. His wrist was twisted, his toes were broken, and he had to keep his jaw in a brace in order to protect his teeth. However, he showed his willingness to continue playing baseball, having a cast around his waist and fixing a bat and a glove on his arm. Thanks to his efforts to overcome the accident's aftermath, he fully recovered and made superior achievement in the high school league. The trauma of the accident could not hinder his innate talent. Finally, he was drafted as the fifty-second pickto the Boston Red Sox.
Although he was an excellent player in his high school league, he had hard times in the rookie seasons of his minor and major league. He even said in an interview with MassLive that he was concerned about whether he could get used to the new environment. After his effort to analyze and fix his mistake, he demonstrated himself to be a super star in MLB, achieving the fortieth 30-30 (30 homeruns and 30 runs) ever. In addition, Mookie Betts, who became a young star, is sharing the happiness of his success with others. He is known for delivering food to the poor at the public library in Boston. Even after the longest game ever on Oct 26th, he visited the public library and bought some food for the poor, leaving just 2 hours to get to LA Dodger stadium. As it was spotlighted by the media, there were a lot of attempts to interview him after the game. However, he just got into the dug-out, saying "I've been blessed with everything I have, and I might as well share it."

Called up to the major league, he has recorded the career ranking of number one in hitting average and runs in the 2018 American League. Getting through several difficulties, the whole league recognizes him as the best player. However, like the lyrics of Used To This by Future ‘Beat the odds, do numbers and remain humble’. As shown on his Twitter profile, he does not rest on his laurels, instead sharing his success with others. The fifth year in his debut, has excited many baseball fans as well as people all around the world. CAH is looking forward to seeing his outstanding performance in the future.
