On July 3rd, there was a special lecture on writing resumes based on the “Linda” discussion. First step of the “Linda” debate was to form five student groups ranging from three to four people in each. Each group respectively got the opportunity to reflect on actual resumes of the other applicants—in this stage, the drafted version. For ten minutes, there was a group discussion letting each student critically view upon the provided materials and then, each group presented on their respective point of views. What followed was the feedback from the consultant of the day, Yang Hee-sun. She summarized what students retrieved from their own understanding and showed how the drafted form of resumes transformed after receiving appropriate feedback. Based on the differences found from the drafted and the revised resumes, the consultant Yang provided efficient and important tips for writing resumes. For one, she suggested that inserting appropriate personal experience is crucial for illustrating motivations for the application. Also, she emphasized the importance of understanding the job capabilities in specific. With the story of her working experience and her colleagues’ stories, the special lecture overall helped the participants to get tips on how to present themselves in special, yet precise ways.
