For college students, vacation is a valuable time to gain various experiences that were difficult to do during the regular semester due to their class schedules. For the campus administrators, though, the vacation period is a time to renovate old facilities so that students don’t feel uncomfortable during the next semester. Various construction work was done on campus this summer. First of all, three major construction projects were carried out at the 203 building. Built in 1972, Building 203’s facilities are often times not, so to speak, in a good mood. So, repair constructions on that building are needed more than any others. There was asbestos material replacement work in some spaces, and a new water heater was installed in the sinks throughout the building. In the building’s main stairwells, the walls were renovated and repainted, and new floor tiles were laid. All construction within building 203 was completed within the vacation period. By comparison, even though the construction projects in Building 202, which involve installation of additional windows ant repainting the exterior walls, began on July 18th and are scheduled to conclude by October 6th. Additional “freshening ups” on campus include the replacement of aged wooden decks on the rooftop of Building 204, the newly created SW education facility and practice room in Building 208, and the replacement of an aged elevator in Building 207. As such, the vacation period is a time when the campus is refurbished for the next semester, and various repairs have been made this summer.
