On September 24th, the second <Seminar for Communication with the Social Field> was held in Chung-Ang University's Seoul Campus Law Institution room 207. Currently, Korea’s education community is paying a great attention to producing and nurturing converged talent. Converged talent means the ability to review and explore ways of cooperation between various academic fields, away from fragmentary thinking. In line with this situation, Chung-Ang University is promoting converged education as its CAU 2030 strategic task, and this seminar is part of the process. Chung-Ang University wanted to use this seminar to a create time and place to share various social issues with people and to find a way to solve these problems in a converged way. The theme of the seminar in September was to address how to reduce plastic, which is an environmental problem, from a management, chemistry, law, or environmental engineering perspective. Before the seminar began, the president of Chung-Ang University briefly told the audience about the purpose of the seminar, adding words of encouragement. The seminar began when Kim Myung-ja, a former environment minister and the current chairman of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, opened with a keynote speech at the seminar. Professor Yoon Sung-ho of Chung-Ang University's Department of Chemistry, Professor Han Chang-seok of Inha University's Department of Environmental Engineering, Sung Yun-mo CEO of Marina Floating System, and Dr. Park Jong-joon of the Korea Institute of Legal Affairs took about 30 minutes to present the seminar. After the presentation, the speakers held a panel discussion. Yoo Kwon-jong, a Professor of Philosophy at Chung-Ang University, took the helm of the debate and talked about how to bring about a plastic reduction. It was a great opportunity to listen to various experts, from various perspectives, with various ideas to solve social problems through convergence education. If you want to participate in <Seminar for Communication with the Social Field>, it is held regularly, so you can find the schedule on the notice at Chung-Ang University's website.
