Any student wants more unique and special prepares for one to enjoy in any campus. We concentrate our eyes to bulletin board to find what festival the school is holding. We prefer any contests that could earn much money and spend whenever we want. We love to find workplace where we can spend small time and labor. TGIF, Bennigans, VIPS, Outback steakhouse(They are one of the famous family restaurants in Korea)... Do you expect the aroma of thick, juicy T-bone steak? Do you prosper the sparkling bubbles of drinking a cocktail? No. We look upon the situation of eating in somewhat fancy restaurant, treated as a star in the four - sided table. Most of us do not want to admit that we are dominated by capital, the green - faced King Sejong smiling or sneering pathetically to us. But it is true that  university(So called the place where we aim "purity of knowledge") students know what is the power source of our society. In the statistics over family matters, the more educated and the higher the class of career stands, family problems seams to have decreased. This directly relates to how much the family earns. Because it is them the well - educated elites making the large amount of earnings. The consequences of our mind, the grand norm of any capitalized civilization is proficiency of economics : Spend as much small as we can only to earn for the maximum of welfare.

Private School In the New Era

The election of student council leader has ended. In Anseong Campus, There had been only one candidate to be selected. But in Heukseok Campus, there had been two candidates aiming for the student council leader. Not to bit around the bush, every candidates gave their public commitment over budget managing. Some candidate expressed that using experts on managing budget would let students be a little bit more free from tuition raise. But it is little funny that even though students want to find answer in themselves, the mediator is held by different kind. As you have seen in the recent news or magazines, the prevalent law over present private school laws are facing new era : The change.

In order to run a private school in Korea, capital should be concentrated on certain foundations. But even though private schools are based on certain group of founders, any private schools have property of public. In the census, it is estimated that 40 percentage of junior/high school education and 87 percentage of collegiate education is based on private schools. 95 percentage of universities and 98 percentage of junior/high schools in Korea are subsidized by governmental support. They are not actually "private". They are standing in the main stream of Korea's education. That is to say they not only to earn profit but also, and most of all, to educate people. Private schools were motivated to earn diversity in education and compete each other to provide better education. Education provided with difference in point of view might let self - regulation and liberalism possible, the important part of human growth. But private schools could not afford such virtue to our society. Do you look at magazines or newspapers? the word "private" in education turned its meaning into impropriety, dishonest and unlawfulness. Actually it is not that unlawful at all because it is the law that is supporting the school. Admitting that the law over private schools had been changed over 30 from the first in 1963, some of the authorities hadn't been delivered for democratic world.

But to tell the truth, it is us and it is you that make our article. So it is prominent that you are the key-holders of Chung-Ang Herald. School press has been criticized of its inability to achieve reader's taste. Some generous readers might regard the circumstances to other relations. They might guess that press is looking at school's attitude because in the name of school press, there is always the word, "school" following. If it would be likely, then press should die in the second of noticing that. Press survives, nurtures and progresses by you, the students. But it is certain that we are not making confidency to students and it is you that doesn't feel to need the press. Press is trying their noticeable aptitude and now it is the society of you to judge us. It is same as for the school and students. Actually there is some problem in managing university. CAU had been noisy in the press about the foundation and is willing to change it. Not like Yonsei University or Konkuk University, CAU has low performance earning budget from outside campus too. Those two I mentioned is both occupied in dairy product. For example, Yonsei university is lending three ceremonial buildings to the public, one in Sinchon, the others in parts of Seoul. The school also runs business in milk products. Although the company is much smaller compared to famous companies like Seoul or Maeil Milk, It provides great quality in local area along with alumni.  University should try to get as much as budget they could. But the school is earning budget passively only to run a university. To run a university is one thing. The main core of the school is its prosperity in the market of education. Thousands of students graduate every year and it is already 86 years passed from the founding of CAU. There are alumni everywhere in the society and they need the love the school can provide. To say the truth, we need give-and-take theory to settle CAU's basic. CAU should support the graduates and request the help we need. Supporting doesn't say big things. We should support the alumni to love our school. Then, what about you? Do you love CAU? Do you struggle to find yourself loving you and your school? There are gossips that CAU is getting lower in so called, Ratings of universities. Then I would ask, do you love your school? Seoul national university, Korea university... many famous schools already achieved their emblem as a brand. Many high school students love to cling a badge of 'veritas lux mea'. What about UCLA? NII? They are all from the names of an ivy league, the famous universities in U. S. They didn't leave their superiority to rot in the name. Universities licensed their names in clothing industry. Now we are buying "STANFORD", "YALE" in the name of 'ivy league style'. But have you thought CAU holding its name as a brand?

The school is one of large society that lives. We live along with it. It is the school authority and students that make the school alive. Even though schools are non-profit associations, it is money that is needed to run a school. That doesn't mean we must pay our money to run a school. The most important thing the students have to pay is love. We need welfare, we need the registration fee frozen etc. Many words should be applied but within deep in the heart, we should love own schools. And the authority should let them love our school.
