Do you remember a name of miss Korea jin for 1991?
The beauty, representing Korea in 1991,now stand on our school rostrum. She's name is Lee Young-hyeon who lecturer of the class - modern society & mass communication. she has many experience and know-how at the real mass communication world. So she teach the know-how to student and continuously study for doctor's degree in Mass Communication. A first snowy day, the Chung Ang Herald (CAH) met her at the pal-gack-jung.
CAH: What is the class 'modern society & mass communication' like? Why do you teach the class of this kind?
Lee: In my case, I was debut after selected Miss Korea, with any prepared for mass communication. And I realized that there are little gap between me and other people who prepared very well. So I think that- If I can help new blood of mass communication by tell them my know-how and theoretical basement, it will be worth. Then, I get degrees and start lecture. So I think actual training, such like image making or speech, is very important as well as theory. Because in the society, you should be express your ability and possibility. It's very important thing.
CAH: As I heard, you were turn away many student at first week. why did you do? And now, how about your student?
Lee: At first time of the class, more over 100students come in the classroom. So, I'm explain my lecture plan, and tell them "I think, it will be better remain the only student who could according my plan. for all the student." Because many student application my class just as interesting or curiosity. But my class never soft or lose. Next week, just 30~40 student was remain. And the student are very good.
CAH: Compare with lecturer and entertainer, What is the more interesting for you?
Lee: m..I'm working at the broadcasting, more than 10years. I do not regret giving up the job.
And now, I'm so happy to teach the student. I'm just want student give me as much I give the student. Because, it is communication. When I see the student's presentation become better than first, I'm very happy. Actuality, now my wage is very cheap. There is no comparison with broadcasting. But, in spite of that, I like it. But, I don't want to be professor. Because, there are many people- must be professor. But I'm not. I think 'title' is not much important. So, I wish I remain lecturer, like a packman.^^
CAH: Like a entertainment, teacher deal with many people. On rostrum, how do you control popularity?
Lee: I think....I'm not popular lecture.^^
If somebody ask my student "how about the class?',
almost answered "It's too hard".
CAH: You are social life start early than other people.
I think in the social life, most difficult thing is human relations. Do you have any method for that?
Lee: Where ever you go, just different the whole picture, there are various people in all the society.
So, there are no rule. most important thing is 'just naturally'. But, If many troubles occurred between someone and me, I attempt conversation with the people, and talk about 'why we have trouble' . "conversation" can help you understand the other. When I was young, there are many people 'never understand'. But as I grow older, as become wife and mother, I can understand more people.
CAH: So then, do you have any 'skill' or 'special methods' for better conversation?
Lee: First of all, you should represent that 'now I heard you'. For that, you can use the unverbal communication, like a eye contact or nod. If you did, may be the speaker want to more converse with you. And then, you can more earnest conversation and finally you can understand him better. I's very important for communication. But, if you don't attention to speaker, you will be fail.
CAH: How did you spend your time during the ordinary days?
Lee: My society roles are reached almost 20. First, as one man's wife, two children's mother, one family's daughter in law, and in my parent's home, I'm a youngest daughter. So, I'm busy with this and that. Generally I'm doing housework, take care of my children and do my study. There is nothing to special. It's just same with a ordinary housewife.
CAH: When you sophomore in university, your already member of society. If you return to student, and go to the school, what is most want to do?
Lee: Well.. I think, I don't have general school life. But I'm not neglect my class. Many people think it's too difficult. But, actually, it's easy. Not impossible. And, I think many students neglect their school, on the pretext of society activity. So, I not regret at my school life or love. Because when I was freshman, I met my husband. So, I don't repent and don't want return to past time. I'm think, I'm always do my best in every moment. And from now on too.
