Last month, a tabloid newspaper reported, "The thieves who robbed The Scream burned it, because they worry about the police slowly closing on to them." The Scream, painted by Munch (1863-1944), a Norwegian painter, was robbed of Madonna, also painted by Munch, in August of last year. The Norwegian police denied this report and the investigation became shrouded in mystery.
