After the World War Ⅱ, people believed there would be no more war. But there still are a lot of incidents in which people are killed without reason. 

 On May 13th, as many as 500 people reportedly were killed in Andijan, Uzbekistan's fourth-largest city, when government troops were called in to put down an uprising.                   

 "The troops killed us as they hunted for rabbits." one boy of Andijan said about the condition on the day of tragedy in Uzbekistan.

 Jack Straw, the foreign secretary of the UK, condemned the situation that it is a clear case of human right infringement. But the U.S.A supported the policy of the Russian government.

 Like this, the attitude toward an affair of bloodshed often changes according to the interests of a strong nation not the morals. At this time, we can question the role of international agencies.

 There are two movies about the international agencies. One is the「Interpretor」relating to the U.N and the other is 「Spanish Apartment」about the E.U.

  In the「Interpreter, Syvia Broom, an African born interpreter for the U.N, has a sad family history. Her family died by a land mine when she was young. After the accident, she once was a fighter who protested against the government, but she realized that violence couldn't be the solution and became an interpreter for the U.N as a messenger of peace, doing the right interpreting.

 But one day, as Sylvia overhears an assassination plot against an African head of state planned to address the U.N's General Assembly, the story starts to expand. She believes in the power and sanctity of words but as time goes by she cannot make sure the power of both words and U.N because it takes so much time to solve.

 If someone wants to bring up a very urgent bill for discussion, it takes a lot of time and efforts. But if everybody doesn't believe in the role of international agencies due to that reason, it's not the right attitude. To gather the opinions of each country, we cannot but help take time and efforts. But it is a very important job to we know the international policy of each country because we want world peace.

 All of you have already seen the situation after 9.11 that even though the U.S.A attacked Iraq, the world's opinion for that, including the U.N, criticized it severly. If we head toward peace and work together, we can make the peaceful world. And the U.N can play an important role. 

 The movie 「Spanish Apartment」gives us a good point of view about the role of international organizations. The six main characters are from a member nation of the European Union. Because their mother tongues are all different, they sometimes fight with each other and cannot understand others. But when Wendy, a girl from England, gets in trouble, they cooperate and think out an idea for her. In the opening part, the members considered that they can't live together, but later the movie shows us they live in harmony like an organized body without any system. Therefore, international organizations can act as the communication center which make us understand other countries and that leads us not to fight.

 In the last scene of the「Spanish Apartment」, the French Javier murmurs " My real image is nowhere. The features adding everyone's are my real image." Each member has not only his own individuality but also the things others have, which means that we can get together if we try to.

 Like the nationalist Kim Gu said, the last mission of  mankind is that the whole world become universal brotherhood. And international organizations help us to attain this mission as messengers of peace. Let's believe in it and try to understand other countries. Peace-!
