In Chung-Ang University(CAU), there are three main organ of press; The CAU Newspaper, The UBS, The Chung-Ang Herald(CAH). These organs are first organ of expression in university; The CAU Newspaper (1947), The UBS (1957), The CAH (1957). We can see or listen to their outcomes.

However, we cannot see how they were made. So let us talk about these three in detail.

CAU Newspaper


The CAU Newspaper was established on September 1, 1947. At first, it was CAU School Newspaper. It was the first university newspaper. In 1947, they changed the name to the CAU Newspaper.

Also in 1948 the CAU Newspaper started printing all Korean writing laterally. Today they keep their works, by holding literature contest, scholarship thesis ceremonies, Chung-Ang people awareness research, and so on. The CAU Newspaper has one chief editor, seven department editors, and twelve reporters.

They have eight departments; News department, planning department, culture department, scholarship department. Society department, public opinion department, photo department, internet department. Their weekly life is as such: On Monday morning they deliver newspapers.

In the evening, they have an evaluation conference. On Tuesday, they collect data. On Wednesday, they finish anecdotal articles. On Thursday, they collect data and finish one straight article. On Friday, all articles are finished. On Saturday, the articles are typeset.

UBS (Universal Broadcasting System)

The UBS opened on April 12th in 1957. It was called VOUS at first. In 1963, it called UBS(Universal Broadcasting System). The UBS plan what they will broadcast from the beginning of the semester. They plan what type of program will broadcast. So when they find items.

They find at that moment's issue. All members must do more then two formal programs. In addition, the UBS recently recode on video most of the school event. Opening to the public broadcasting is one of the UBS main event. They do it four times in one semester.

 The UBS has 38 form members and 14 honorary members. It has 5 department; producing department, DJ department, news department, image planning department, engineering department. You know what?

 As you know, audio broadcasting is in the morning and the evening. Morning broadcasting is live, but broadcasting, but evening broadcasting is pre-recoded. Recently, the UBS does English broadcasting with the CAH on Tuesday. In addition, they try to play variety music.

The Chung-Ang Herald

The CAU was established on May 20th, 1957 as a Campus English newspaper. It was the first Campus English newspaper. The CAH was published as a tabloid newspaper. However, in 1994, the CAH changed its newspaper type into a news magazine. In addition, in 1995, As a first trial among university English newspapers,

The CAH started to use color on all pages.


The CAH has has four departments; News department, culture department, politics & society department, international department.


To make this magazine, the CAH plans the magazine at the beginning of month. Abuot 3~4days are given to reporters for finding items and about one week is given for collecting data. In addition, the remaining days are use for editing and correction.

And the CAH holds English essay contest every year.

In the CAU press, students have editing right. This is rarely seen in other universities. Most other university must report their results to professors or president. This right was made by senior? effort and student? voice. Now the CAU press raises their right as a way that compensates by their products. Let? look their activity to inform  you of various news.
