(Sweden)

In the middle south of Sweden, there is a city called Jonkoping. This city is also to the south of Lake Vattern, which is the second largest lake in Sweden. As you can see from the name, Jonkoping International Business School (JIBS) is in Jonkoping. Chung-Ang University (CAU) has recently engaged in a one-and-one exchange student program with JIBS and is planning to initiate the program in 2007, Spring.

Introducing JIBS
Jonkoping University was established in 1994 as private College University. There are four colleges in Jonkoping University in total, Communication & Education, Engineering, Health Service & Nursing and Business School. JIBS is one of these colleges. JIBS is famous for the research field in Entrepreneurship, and is one of top school in that field.

As for the department, there are three programs; the BBA program in Business Administration, the BSc program in Business Informatics and BSc program in International Economics and Policy. Lectures are primarily in English.
The proximate number of the students in JIBS is 1700 and about 160 international students are studying in JIBS.

One thing that JIBS is different from CAU is the semester. One semester consists of two quarters, so spring semester is January to March and April to June, and the fall semester is August to October and October to December. CAU students can apply for JIBS exchange students for one or two semesters.

CAU students who apply to be JIBS exchange students can study in JIBS for CAU tuition. To live on as JIBS student, you will need approximately 7,000 SEK per month. This sum is roughly divided as follows:

Accommodation
JIBS does not have its own housing facilities, but rents several apartments and rooms for students. Most exchange students will use these apartments. Generally, one apartment has three or four rooms and each student will have individual rooms. Kitchen and restrooms are common areas. Beds, closets, desks, and other furniture are set up and the laundry room in basement is complimentary. Facilities and furniture are neat and clean. Students can gather around to watch TV and rest as well as use a ping-pong table, billiard table, and other recreational items. Houses around JIBS are expensive. Therefore, renting an apartment is favorable.

Experiencing Sweden Culture
JIBS provides various programs to international exchange students so they can experience Sweden better. One program is host family program. JIBS connects two exchange students to one Swedish family so they can be like family while exchange students stay in Sweden. Another program is Sweden lecture. International exchange students must attend ‘Swedish and Sweden Culture’ lecture in their first quarter so they can learn about Sweden culture better.
Downtown is only 10 minutes away from JIBS. Near JIBS there is a church called Sophia Church and there is an outdoor flee market, which opens every Saturday. There is a gym near the JIBS, and is in perfect shape for students to use. In Jonkoping, there is a solitary Asian market but they do not sell Korean merchandise. Besides this, you can enjoy other various shopping and leisure activities near JIBS.

Because JIBS is a Business School, students who are in their sophomore year or above and majoring in the Department of Business administration and Business Administration will be the main students for JIBS exchange students. CAU will start dispatching students to JIBS from Spring semester, 2007, and will accommodate JIBS students here at CAU from the Fall semester, 2007.

JIBS will be the perfect place for students who want to be entrepreneurs. In addition, it would be an ideal place for you to experience true Swedish culture. JIBS has now opened their arms wide to CAU.
