On November 18, 2011, Joint public hearing was held by 53th board of election in campus. It was at the art center classroom 904. All the press – Chung-ang Herald, Chung-dae Newspaper, UBS, Nok-ji, and Chung-ang Mun-hwa- and other students came to ask questions to the candidates. This year’s election is very special because 4 teams decided to run for the election. Each press had a chance to ask 1 general question to all the candidates, and 2 individual questions to each team. All the press prepared their questions regarding the promises, current campus issues and candidates’ character. Here are some interesting question and answers from joint public hearing.

Team 4 Question(Pong-dang – Jang Chang-won, Jeong Young-soo)
Q:    ‘Choosing class that you want’ can’t solve current problem with choosing classes so called ‘war’. Also, with combining business administration in Ansung campus with Seoul is going to worsen the situation. What do you think?
A: As I mentioned in earlier question, student’s right to choose classes he/she want is really important. Even with the difficulties, we have to appeal to the school to save our rights. That’s why we have this project on our promises.
Team 3 Question(Choice and Focus – Cho Hee-seung, Park Min-hyuk)
Q:     Unlike the other candidates, you are the only one who’s suggesting freezing tuition fee. Do you have any plan for that?
A : I’m not an expert on tuition fee. However, we have to lower the fee. Otherwise we need to enhance service to student as much as possible. Sadly I know that University can’t provide high quality service as much as their high tuition fee. I’m not saying I’ll not try to lower the fee. I’ll try hard, but since my term is only one year, I’m not sure if I can be successful. If I don’t make my promise come true that can’t be promise. However, I’ll make sure that I’ll freeze the tuition fee, and I’ll try my best to open to gate to lowering the fee.
Team 2 Question(Cau V – Ji Bong-min, Kang Dong-han)
Q:  Some of the promises are not necessarily student council’s job. What do you think about this?
A: In our promise, we do have many projects regarding cultures which are culture committee’s job. I was former culture committee chair, and during my term I realized that it is very difficult to run business without student council’s help. The committee also gets helping fund from student council, so if student council and culture committee can work together as a team, our promises will come true in an effective way.
Team 1 Question(Real university – Baek Si-jin, Lee Do-kyung)
Q: Your team was in the center of 200 people discussion which was a hot issue last month. From what I saw the method of promoting, processing and discussion itself were all illegal according to university rule. If you were to follow the rules, schools would not stop you. What do you think?
A: Well I think that school having rule against students discussion is already proving that school is suppressing students’ opinions. I think CAU is the only school who’s banning the discussion. We came up with lots of alternative to make it legal, but school said that the purpose of the discussion was wrong. So we had to be criminals by just expressing our opinions and I think that is the problem. School should listen to students instead of suppressing them
After press questioning time, there was student questioning time which heated the atmosphere. Students who participated the joint hearing thoroughly analyzed each candidate’s promises and gave questions that can be useful for voters to understand candidates more. Since there are so many teams, many students didn’t have many chances to hear from the entire candidate. The election is on November 23 and 24. Which one will you vote for? Which one should be the representative of next student council? Whoever becomes the president of student council, they should never forget to work for student and try their best to make their original promises come true.
