On August 18th, 2012, 2012 Project U Do Re took place in the grand theater of the CAU Art center. The program started with the greeting of Project U’s president, Sim Chan-young from The Univ. of Pennsylvania, and followed by presentations of high school cases, lifestyle in the university, role of global leaders, and then a networking session at building 302. Project U is a network of Korean students from Ivy League (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, Univ. of Pennsylvania, Yale) and four other major universities (Georgetown, Stanford, Univ. of Southern California, Washington Univ. in St. Louis). Korean student councils in the above universities voluntarily formed the group, Project U, in order to contribute specialized knowledge and service for those in needs. One of Project U’s missions is to provide practical and accurate information about entering U.S. universities; the reason why Project U is holding 2012 Project U Do Re at CAU. CAU students as well as high-school students and parents visited 2012 Project U Do Re.
2012 Project U DO RE was hosted under the sponsorship of CAU. CAU is continuously making progress to communicate with foreign prestigious universities, aligning with the trend of globalization. Especially CAU, as a university, plays a role in suggesting visions and opportunities for global leaders to support the society, and it is building a connection between Korean society and major U.S. universities.

Interview with Shin Jung-bum, International Center section chief.
CAH. What would be beneficial for CAU students by having 2012 Project U Do Re on campus?
A. CAU is constantly making an effort to become a globalized university by supporting exchange student programs and attracting foreign students. Whilst doing so, CAU came in contact with Project U in U.S, and found out that the members of the project hoped to share their experiences and knowledge with Korean students. By hosting 2012 Project U Do Re, CAU can not only build a relationship with major universities in U.S, but also can gain a higher, globalized brand value of CAU. There would be no great advantage CAU students can gain for the present. Looking at the big picture, however, CAU could get much more than just a relationship with Project U. CAU hopes students from Project U to be honorary ambassadors and let many people in the world aboard know about CAU.

CAH. What is Project U’s next plan?
A. As I mentioned before, opening 2012 Project U Do Re is paving the path for maintaining close cooperation with university students in U.S and Korean society. Do-re means working together in Korean. As its motto , ‘Do Relay, Do Right Excellent, Do Revolution’, represents, Project U is willing to provide knowledge and help to Korean, because Korea is their mother country. In the winter vacation, Project U will participate in the Love Coal community service program, delivering coals to the disabled. I hope many CAU students will join. The International center will keep updates of Project U’s future activities on the website.
