Conclusion

 Controversy is mounting over the revision of the 2022 College Scholastic Ability Test. The plan was even postponed for a year (from 2021 to 2022). It is a fact that the absolute evaluation will be expanded to encompass a larger scope. The Ministry of Education is taking a stance to normalize high school education by solving unlimited competition, admission systems focusing on scores, and classes only for the preparation of the CSAT. On the other hand, many people oppose the plan due to side effects such as confusion among students and intensification of competition in school tests. In South Korea, the scholastic ability test is still a very important factor for entrance into university. Therefore, it is a sensitive issue that is at the center of people’s attention. Thus, by considering students, parents and universities, a cautious approach is needed with efforts to minimize adverse effects.
