Interview with Park Won-yong, the Director of the Da Vinci HRD Institute
What does the Da Vinci HRD Institute do?
We help students who have studied according to their major to get a job. Under the catchphrase of “Creating Value for Students,” we coach students’ study plans to lead to successful employment. What’s more, we operate “classes for employment,” “campus-recruiting,” “recommended recruitment,” and “employment counseling.” Last February 27th, we held a "job concert" with the Korea Economic Newspaper. The number of students who want balanced lives between work and home has increased, so we invited businesses’ personnel managers and tried to provide students with useful information.
What should students prepare before they get counseling?
Consultancies are individually tailored for students. In case of the lower grades, students can participate in the consultation with worries or hopes about their future. In case of young applicants, it is helpful for counseling for them to be able to sum up their experiences and strengths and weaknesses. Bringing expected and previous questions can be helpful for students who are about to be interviewed. Besides, by summing up your growth process, schoolwork and experience, the quality of counseling can be improved.
Which program do you think students have to participate in?
We operate “campus-recruiting” every semester. Campus-recruiting is a program wherein businesses’ personnel managers directly explain their recruitment processes at school. There is no restriction on majors and grades when participating in this program. So, I really want to say it would be very helpful for lower grade students to listen to explanations of companies they are interested in and to prepare in advance. Preparation for getting a job has to start from the lower grades.
How can students apply for direct counseling with the director of Da Vinci HRD Institute?
To apply for direct counseling, we recommend students to visit our office (Building 310, Room 204) and fill out a consultation form. However, if you can’t visit, simply call and make a reservation in advance, then visit and fill out the form on the meeting day. If you are in hurry, we can also provide counseling through e-mail (wypark@cau.ac.kr).
What advice would you like to give to freshmen and undergraduates?

The prepared people can have a chance. You passed school and major as a result of the efforts you had prepared and now are studying. For this, most students have tried a lot since high school. Also, you might have prepared for more than three years to pay your tuition and study at university. I hope you will think when to start preparing to get a job through which you can earn money for more than 30 years and shape your own existence. The HRD Institute is always open for students. We provide counseling, not only about getting a job but about various fields. “Do you want to go out into the world? Then be prepared.”

Students who need some information for their future can get help from the Da Vinci HRD Institute when they want, as long as they apply for it. We hope that this interview with the director of the Da Vinci HRD Institute was helpful for students and that students will come to be one step closer to their dreams.
