On May 23rd, there was a special mental health seminar for international students here at Seoul Campus. It was held by the “Student Life Counseling Center” at Building 310 in Room 422. This helpful seminar was given by Nam Ji-hye, a Professor of Counseling Psychology in the Department of Counseling Psychology and Social Welfare at Handong University. A lot of Chinese foreign students have participated to get help from this seminar. At the seminar, the professor firstly covered what truly made current society. She stated that today it is very common to see foreign students around the world. These changes were due to various reasons such as globalization, increase in middle and upper classes, difference in languages and etc. The professor then explained these phenomenon with the statistics and the researches that are done by Yale University and Harbin Univeristy. Then, she shared and helped each student in finding out their real mental problems such as depression and anxiety. The most helpful part for the students was that they get to have opportunity to have a counseling time with the professor Nam after the seminar. It is sure that those who attended this mental health seminar gained the power to overcome any difficulties or struggles.
