Snow affects the ecosystem of Earth and further protects the Earth, so it should snow in winter. We should consider the result of ecosystems that snow will cause rather than the convenience that humans can have right now.

First, snow keeps plants and animals out from the cold. Snow preserves heat beneath the ground, preventing seeds from freezing to death. In addition, hibernating animals are vulnerable to cold air in winter, yet snow can prevent them from freezing. It is because the snow is filled with about 90% air between the snowflake crystals. Therefore, when the outside temperature is -10 degrees, it is only -1 degrees underneath 50cm of snow. This results in insulation effects. Consequently, the creatures can be protected which live in snow-covered farmland, such as seeds and insects, or hibernating animals. Second, animals in Antarctica and the Arctic will not be able to survive unless it snows. Snow creates thick layers of ice which become glaciers in the South and North Poles. Glaciers are huge blocks of ice that travel slowly. They are formed when the snow slowly flows down due to high pressure and gravity. When snow piles up from several hundred meters to several kilometers, the empty space between the snow fills quickly and the snowflake crystals are crushed. Finally, it can be a solid layer of ice and this layer of ice becomes a glacier. What happens if it does not snow and glaciers are not made? Polar bears, penguins, and seals will lose their habitats and hunting grounds. Also, they will be severely threatened. According to the 'Nature Climate Change,' the international journal report in this year, the population of polar bears is declining due to the decrease in sea ice. Also, they could go extinct by 2100 if this declining pace continues. The existing population of wild polar bears is now less than 26,000. It shows a sharp drop of about 30 percent compared to 1987. When it does not snow in the winter, glacier melt can enter seawater which can increase sea level and temperature. This could also threaten the survival of sea creatures around the world, and even humans.

Snow is a blanket that protects the Arctic and Antarctic animals, Earth's ecosystems, and humans in the winter. If it does not snow, humans maybe be comfortable in the short term. However, this can lead to dangerous results in the long term. Therefore, it must snow in the winter.
