The industry pointed out that climate change is responsible for the increasing proportion of artificial snow. According to a report by the U.S. IT specialized media Wired, 60% of the 2,131 ski resorts around the world use artificial snow to continue their business. Artificial snow and ice are used at the Taebaek Mountain Snow Festival, too. The head of the planning team of the Taebaek Festival Committee expressed his disappointment saying that it has been a warm winter without snow for two to three years. According to the Meteorological Administration’s January 1973-2020 weather report, the average temperature in Korea rose steadily. The officer in charge of weather forecasting at the Meteorological Administration mentioned that winter is getting warmer because of global warming. We might have no choice but to use artificial snow in the future due to a lack of snow because of climate change.

 Even though there is no natural snow, we can enjoy winter with artificial snow. Even if there is natural snow, artificial snow is already replacing natural snow in many places. There is also a possibility that it will not actually snow in winter due to climate change caused by global warming from now on. As a countermeasure to the situation, artificial snow can be used.
