For some, snow is special and beautiful. For children, snow holds great memories of making snowmen, snowball fights, skiing, or snowboarding. And many people think that snow is a symbol of winter because it gives a beautiful white winter atmosphere and becomes a literary symbol such as trials and hopes. However, the beauty and symbolistic meaning of snow cannot compensate for the dangers of snow and the inconvenience or damages from it that many people experience. 

  As well as the fact that it is easy to slip and increase the possibility of traffic accidents when there is lots of snow, the hardship of snow removal makes us look negatively at snow falling in winter. Snow increases the chances of various accidents, so snow removal should be done to prevent such accidents. When it snows a lot, we can easily see street cleaners and security guards working on snow removal, which seems really arduous as they need to remove a large amount of heavy snow. In addition, soldiers do snow removal, too. Even if snow removal has started to be carried out by equipment since 2019, the soldiers are still the ones responsible, giving them great pain. The Ministry of National Defense acknowledged the pain of snow removal in the army. In the ‘National Defense Reform 2.0’ released in June 2018, the Ministry of National Defense announced that snow removal in various places, including operational roads and General OutPost (GOP) areas, has often been carried out by tools such as brooms in cold weather, making it an arduous chore for soldiers. Even accidents occur due to snow removal in winter. According to the announcement of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency in 2011, security guards, street cleaners, and warehouse workers remove snow on roads and buildings, resulting in disasters such as slipping, falling, and traffic accidents.

  Snow makes many people uncomfortable, including street cleaners, security guards, and soldiers, in that it makes them work hard to remove snow. Not only is snow removal tough, but it can also cause accidents. The snow looks beautiful, but it is not all about its looks. It is better not to snow in the winter because there are more disadvantages than advantages.
