Do you know about the restriction in the use of public rest zones in all buildings of Chung-Ang University (CAU)’s Seoul campus? Chairs in the rest zones have all been removed. This was done to prevent the spread of COVID-19 around campus. It took effect on December 3rd, 2020 and will continue until the end of COVID-19. According to the CAU academic management plan, the use is restricted in a multi-step plan. In the case of full non-face-to-face and strongly limited non-face-to-face classes, the rest zones are completely controlled. They will be 50% controlled in the case of limited non-face-to-face classes, and fully open in the case of small face-to-face, expanded face-to-face, and full face-to-face classes. Under the CAU step-by-step academic management plan, the first eight weeks of classes in the spring semester of 2021 are held in accordance with stage 2.5. At this stage, all classes should be operated non-face-to-face. Some experiment, practice, and practical classes can be operated face-to-face restrictively. For this, approval of the university president and thorough disinfection are essential. In addition, the midterm examination should be conducted remotely but can be conducted at the discretion of the professors. Also, grade evaluation will again use absolute evaluation and students can receive up to an A for subjects they retake. Students who have plans to visit the Seoul campus should refer to the notice of restricting the use of the rest zones in advance. Although there may be some inconveniences due to not being able to use the rest zones, CAH hopes that many students understand this situation.
