On May 1, 2021, Escalator Installation Construction of Building 204 (Central Library), Seoul Campus, began. The Office of Construction & Maintenance expects construction to take about six months, to be completed by October 31. The university started to install a total of two escalators, up and down. It also includes replacing old concrete-plastered finishing stairs with stones. During the construction, one lane of the road in front of the stairs is blocked. In addition, the stairs in front of the central library are not closed. The installation of the escalator in front of the central library was one of the pledges related to the welfare and facilities of the 62nd Student Council of Chung-Ang University Seoul Campus, Syn-. They said they planned to install an escalator on the stairs in front of the central library, which is about 12 meters long in their pledges. However, the pledge was delayed, so the construction only started this year. According to the September 28, 2020, UBS News, the Seoul Campus Student Council syn- said, “We had a budget compilation through deliberative committee, in early 2020. After that, we had a plan for construction in the fall semester of 2020. However, due to COVID-19, the environmental effects evaluation (including the residents' hearing) was not carried out, and construction was delayed.” Therefore, the escalator construction was postponed to 2021.
