During vacations or new semesters, many senior students often want to find internships while preparing for employment. However, there will be many students who feel burdened to do internships during the semester. For these students, Chung-Ang University (CAU)'s Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation organized a "works experience and industry-academic cooperation internship" that helps students gain hands-on experience instead of taking classes. Let's learn about this program, which not many students may know well.

Works Experience and Industry-Academic Cooperation Internships are programs organized by CAU's Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation to develop students' ability to enter the workforce by applying knowledge learned at school. According to the website of CAU's work experience management system, the program has three characteristics and advantages: First, the work experience in the company is advantageous for employment as awareness of the importance of work experience (internships) spreads through each company currently. Second, through this system, students can experience various working environments while attending school, which also helps them to determine future career paths. Third, students can receive credit acceptance and scholarships while conducting work experience through internships. Depending on the training institution, various incentives such as practical support payments and field trips to overseas industries may be provided by government agencies such as the Ministry of Education.

Works Experience and Industry-Academic Cooperation Internships can be classified into classes, and industry-academic cooperation foundations and enterprises, or institutions shall make a prescribed agreement in advance and formulate a practical operation plan. In addition, students in their third and fourth years who wish to apply for these programs must apply through the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation Integrated Management System (http://placement.cau.ac.kr). The procedure for applying to the program is as follows: First, apply for work experience online, and if selected, a practice agreement and pre-training will be conducted. Selection criteria vary from company to company. Next, you should faithfully write online reports, including weekly reports, during the internship at the training institution. After the work, you should submit a comprehensive report, a review of the practice, and a certificate of completion online to get credit for it.

According to the website of CAU's work experience management system, CAU Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation said students need to be diligent and courageous to improve their personal development and image. In addition, the trainees’ duties of preparing and submitting reports are also stated on the website. Specifically, students who wish to have work experience must prepare and submit weekly practice reports, comprehensive practice reports, and practice reviews. In addition, it is required to comply with the regulations and safety management regulations of the training institution and to prohibit the leakage of confidential information from the institution. If an accident occurs during Works Experience and Industry-Academic Cooperation Internships, contact the LINC+ Initiative Implementation Team immediately. Finally, there is a precaution for the credit acceptance and payment. Credit acceptance and payment of support funds are not possible if a person performs a practice without applying in advance to the Creative Practice Support Center or fails to submit the weekly reports, a result report, a review of the practice, or a certificate. In addition, credit acceptance and support payments will not be paid if students express their intention to give up midway to the Creative Practice Support Center or give up midway due to personal circumstances.
