The exhibition <Photograph by Yosigo, Holiday Memories> is drawing attention in Korea. It is a photo exhibition by Spanish photographer and designer who goes by the name Yosigo. His real name is Jose Javier Serano, and the name "Yosigo" means "continuing" in Spanish. His stage name is derived from a poem read to him by his father. Yosigo also takes ordinary photos of natural scenery and places using various compositions and lighting. Yosigo is currently a hot photographer who receives numerous requests to collaborate with global brands such as Jack Daniel, Bitra, and Kinfolk. In this exhibition, a total of 350 photos will be displayed in three sections: architecture, documentary, and scenery of world travel destinations. Through the exhibition of <Photo by Yosigo, Holiday Memories>, you will feel as if you are traveling to an overseas resort in sunny summer weather. The bright and warm atmosphere of Yosigo's photos will excite our hearts. Let's go to the exhibition <Photograph by Yosigo, Holiday Memories> with CAH.

Architecture that Focuses on Light, Shadow, and Patterns

The first section <Architecture> is divided into two parts: <Light & Shade> and <Symmetry & Geometry>. In <Light & Shade>, the same photo is displayed twice in different parts of the building. It is because Yosigo focused on light and shadow when taking these photos to make difference. He usually prefers natural light when taking photos because he likes the angle of light that changes from moment to moment and the shadow created by the light. In each photo, <La Mariga, Murcia, Spain. 2018> and <Okayma, Japan. 2020>, he used natural light and shadow. So, both photos contain warm and dark feelings. In <symmetry & Geometry>, there are photos of buildings taken by Yosigo traveling in each country following a similar pattern. There is a display area where 12 pictures are gathered, and at first glance, they all look like the same building. However, these buildings were all shot in various areas of Japan and Spain, including Osaka, La Manga Murcia, Ibiza, and Kobe. Yosigo's passion for his photography and outstanding observation can be seen as he finds and takes photos of buildings with similar patterns abroad. Photos with regular patterns look balanced and give neatness. In addition, the buildings’ colors are white, orange, and yellow, so the various kind of colors make the photo more beautiful.

The Memory of the Place, Documentary

In the second section <Documentary>, Yosigo's experiences and memories are contained in the photos. Yosigo shares his experiences of leaving his hometown of Barcelona and traveling to Budapest, Japan, the United States, and Dubai with viewers through his photos. The photo in Budapest depicts people enjoying hot spring baths and taking a rest at a resort; white clouds, blue skies, and a vast hot spring in front of an antique European building attract viewers’ attention. You can see the expression of enjoying people's happiness and freedom. Now that wearing a mask has become a daily routine, the photo gives us hope that we too will be able to travel freely as soon as possible. There is also a photo of Dubai's endless sandy desert. You can read an episode of Yosigo’s Dubai Desert travel next to the painting. In Dubai, Yosigo was warned by the police about taking pictures because he did not know it was a crime to take pictures without human consent. He also was helped by soldiers around him due to a car breakdown in the desert. In front of the Dubai Desert photo, the exhibition hall floor is sand. It is designed to share some of the memories that Yosigo experienced while taking pictures in the desert with viewers. When viewing the photos, the sand floor will make you feel like walking in the Dubai desert where Yosigo walked.

Beautiful Landscape with Travelers

The last section, <Landscape> is the main event of this exhibition. The main themes are the beautiful scenery of travel destinations and the travelers. Most of the beach photos taken by Yosigo are gathered with numerous travelers. Yosigo balances the beach with travelers so that travelers can reconsider the existence of travelers. The endless gold beaches and white sand beaches in <Playa De La Concha, San Sebastian, Spain. 2020> make our hearts flutter as we have been unable to travel abroad for so long. However, you may feel a little uncomfortable looking at the picture. This is because the picture does not fully capture the sea scenery due to a crowd of tourists enjoying a vacation on the sandy beach. Colorful parasols, mats, and people take up half of the picture. Yosigo criticizes tourists who densely filled the beach by describing them as "animal tourists." Though Yosigo does perceive himself as one of the travelers, they made it difficult to view the natural scenery. Yosigo also captures the sand beach packed with the people in <Playa De La Concha, San Sebastian, Spain. 2018>. The photo of Yosigo, which contains travelers and natural scenery together, reminds us that we can also become tourists who harm the natural scenery.

<Photo by Yosigo, Holiday Memories> is an exhibition where you can see photos of the beautiful architecture, natural scenery, and resting people taken by Yosigo. Yosigo took pictures of Spanish beaches, Dubai, and other travel destinations around the world. Thanks to his great photos, you will feel as if you have traveled abroad. Yosigo's photos are warm, emotional, and relaxed, so they will make your mind calm when you view the photos. Yosigo wants to share his experiences with the public through his photos. If you look carefully, there are some messages from Yosigo next to the photos. Read the text and share the memories of Yosigo while viewing the photos. Let’s dive into the excellent exhibition <Photo by Yosigo, Holiday Memories>, where we can feel the unique atmosphere of each country through photos.
