<Universal Design Lifestyle Platform> is an exhibition space established to inform many people of the universal design called “Design for Every one”. Universal design is a design that embraces diversity and designs an environment that can be used by everyone regardless of age, body type, gender, nationality, or disease. <Universal Design Lifestyle Platform> presents a new lifestyle by dividing it into three sections: an individual's residential space, an urban life enjoyed by everyone, and a space where design values can be explored. The <Universal Design Lifestyle Platform> exhibition presents products and services that can be used more conveniently by social minorities such as the disabled, the elderly, and children. Through the <Universal Design Lifestyle Platform> exhibition, you will be able to realize the importance and value of universal design that can satisfy everyone. The <Universal Design Lifestyle Platform> exhibition delivers an important message that we should consider and coexist with those who are alienated from our society. Are you ready to go to the <Universal Design Lifestyle Platform> exhibition with CAH?

UD Home (Adding Freedom, UD Home)

In the first "UD Home" section, several companies, including Samsung C&T's fashion division “Heartist,” Dot, and Saturn Bath, suggest universal designs that make it easier for people restricted from using daily products. The first brand "Heartist" makes clothing exclusively for the disabled. It is difficult for people with disabilities, like those who use wheelchairs or have lost parts of their bodies, to easily get dressed. In order to alleviate the difficulties of the disabled, “Heartist” attached an action band to the armhole and added a magnetic button and a zipper ring longer than their existing clothes. Heartist's clothes are not much different from the other designs of the day, so they combine design and convenience, so they expand the range of clothing choices for the disabled. You may think that if you touch the sleeves of the shoulders, the clothes will stretch well because of the elasticity, and the discomfort of pushing a wheelchair or doing other activities will be greatly reduced. You can also try filling the magnetic button yourself, and instead of attaching it to the other hole like a conventional button, the magnet buttons conveniently stick to themselves instantly. The second brand "Dot" introduced a braille watch "Dot Watch" for the blind. Visual information is implemented in braille for visually impaired people who cannot see the numbers written on the watch directly. “Dot Watch” is significant in that it is designed to allow visually impaired people to communicate comfortably with the world. "Dot Watch" can connect to smartphones through Bluetooth like existing smart watches. When a phone call comes, the vibration rings, the sender's name is displayed in braille, and all notifications and messages are displayed on the watch in braille. You can also try on this "Dot Watch," where you can experience the stopwatch, memo, and braille learning functions built into the watch. “Dot Watch” has a simple and luxurious design, and even the price is reasonable. “Dot Watch” is sold at about a tenth of the price of existing braille devices. The third brand Saturn Bath introduced a sink that is lower in height than the existing sink for convenient use by children and people with wheelchairs. You might think that neat designs and soft surfaces will be convenient for children and wheelchair users to use. These products are actively distributed on the market and are receiving positive reviews from consumers.

UD City (Sharing Together, UD City)

In the second section of UD City, several companies introduce services to create a convenient urban environment by sharing universal designs socially. Some of you may have heard of a taxi driven by a deaf driver. The service is a "Silent M" that can be used by both non-disabled and disabled people, and is a joint venture created by "SK Telecom" and "Coactors." Inside the taxi, there are two versions of tablets called "silent tablets," one for the drivers and one for the passengers. The passenger communicates the destination to the driver through the tablet, and the driver checks the contents by using their tablet. This service makes it convenient for passengers and hearing-impaired drivers to communicate without having to speak with each other. On the table , there is a smaller size of car model “Silent M”, so you can see the actual appearance of the taxi. In addition, there is a video of an interview with a deaf taxi driver hired by Silent M. The driver said he was very satisfied with this service because he could be guaranteed a stable job and communicate with passengers through the tablet. There is also an exhibition about the Seoul Metropolitan Government's public bicycle "Ddareungi." “Ddareungi” is a public bicycle service in Seoul, where you can learn about the description and history of Ddareungi. Ddareungi is a universal design that improves the quality of life of citizens who live or travel in Seoul because it is convenient to ride anytime, to anywhere in Seoul. Universal design has also been applied to transportation methods such as taxis and automobiles, allowing more people to enjoy convenience.

UD Library (For Brand-New Design Trend, UD Library)

The UD Library is the last section of the exhibition and is a community space that inspires citizens and designers to create many universal designs for the future. More than 3,000 books on the theme of interior design, universal design, fashion, architecture, and sustainability are available here. There is also a space where you can sit and read , so if you have a book that attracts your attention, you can take it out and read it. Reading books may inspire you to design new universal products. You can also look around the UD Travel and UD Cooking sections in the UD Library. In the UD Travel corner, there is a wearable 360 camera FITT, which allows you to take pictures in every direction. In the UD Cooking section, there is a food stirrer, which is a tool that automatically stirs food dough. The wearable 360 camera FITT and food stirrer are also universal designs. This is because the universal design is not only for social minorities but for everyone to use more conveniently and easily. You will be able to have a broad perspective on universal design through books, UD Travel, and UD Cooking sections at the UD Library.

<Universal Design Lifestyle Platform> provides an opportunity for us to sympathize with the difficulties of social minorities that we have little thought of in our daily lives. It is impressive that there are many designs developed to solve minority’s problems. The new clothes and watches are designed for the disabled, washbasins for children and the elderly, and mobility services for the hearing impaired. Universal design can enrich the lives of social minorities, and the <Universal Design Lifestyle Platform> is expected to create universal design services that can be shared by more societies. Don't you want to see various universal design products in the exhibition? The <Universal Design Lifestyle Platform> exhibition, which presents a new lifestyle that everyone can share, is waiting for you.
