The contents of an exhibition are important, but you would like to visit the exhibition even more if the exhibition space is attractive. The exhibition <Erik Johansson, Beyond Imagination> is being held at the 63 Art Observatory in the 63 Building, from where you can see the Han River. The exhibition displays Eric Johansson's latest photos and video works. Eric Johansson is a Swedish photographer and retouching expert. He mainly takes surrealist photographs, not just digital-based composite photographs. After taking pictures of all the elements he’ll need for a piece, he then takes them home and creates wonderful works in Photoshop. <Erik Johansson, Beyond Imagination> consists of five sections to fully feel Eric Johansson's photography world. His photos also contain a message criticizing modern society, and the combination of unexpected images surprises visitors. Through the <Erik Johansson, Beyond Imagination> exhibition, you will be able to look at the world from a more open perspective. Let's take a close look at the <Erik Johansson, Beyond Imagination> exhibition with CAH.

Traveling Alone

Have you ever traveled alone? Traveling alone is attractive to be able to have a contemplative trip. In this section, you can observe people enjoying their time alone in the peaceful scenery of the pictures. Eric Johansson's wit is contained in the picture, so you can enjoy the picture more interestingly. <Impact> is the representative painting of this exhibition. Like a broken mirror, the river is fragmented and scattered, and there is a man on the boat. There are dead fish in front of the man. The lake, broken mirror, and dead fish make us feel that Eric Johansson intended to announce the seriousness of environmental destruction. About 100 photos have been synthesized for this photo alone, so you will be impressed by his photo editing skills. In addition, there are actual mirror sculptures in front of the picture, which makes the background of the work more realistic. <Leap of Faith> is a work of a man with one foot on a cliff and the other in the air. The man looks precarious as he is about to fall from the cliff. Holding a suit and briefcase, he seems to want to go out of the world, grabbing a balloon. Balloons and white clouds create a romantic atmosphere, and the balloons symbolize the freedom that the man wants. You can take a picture with a balloon, as a man in the picture, in the photo zone next to the work. It will also be interesting for you to infer the man's mood in the picture.

The World I See

There are so many people in the world we live in, and the environment and backgrounds they have lived in are all different. This section provides an opportunity for us to look at the world with our own imagination while appreciating the works. In <Lifetime>, there is a clock in the middle of the sea. The combination of the sea and the clock, which has no direct correlation, gives us a novel sensation. If you look closely at the clock, there are people in the minute hand. Eric Johansson seems to be asking where we are in our lives now. What time is your life clock? Since our lives are all different, our life clocks will also be different. Another interesting work is <You First>. Contrary to the title, it is a picture showing traffic congestion at a three-way intersection. This photo was inspired by the three-way intersection of his hometown. Only 11 vehicles were photographed directly, and the rest were synthesized to make this image. This image is said to contain Johansson's consideration of what the world is like without concessions. <Arms Break, Vases Don't> is a work with a twist. When a pot falls on the floor, it usually breaks. However, in this image, the pot is not broken, and someone’s wrist is cut into pieces as if the pot was broken. The cut wrist is cruel, but Eric Johansson's novel idea stands out.

The Future Life

In the last section, you can enjoy works that contain Eric Johansson's imagination of the future. <Full Moon Service> is a work that contains Eric Johansson's ingenious imagination. A company called Full Moon Service changes the moon every time, and it delivers various colors of moons such as a red moon, a full moon, or a purple moon. The romantic night sky and the light from the moon are very beautiful, and the appearance of an employee carrying the moon gives us a fun impression. <Cloud 13> is also based on Eric Johansson's cute imagination. Someone is cutting wool, and the cut wool goes up into the sky to become clouds. The wool clouds in the sky look cute. <If Lost, Please Call> is a work in which a lost puppy is staring at a public phone box. The dog's eyes look desperate. Will the dog be able to convey the message to his owner that he is lost on a public phone? Eric Johansson's creative photos in this section are as fantastic as a dream world.

"You're limited by your own imaging," said Eric Johansson. He valued thinking ingeniously. If you see Eric Johansson's photos and videos, you will realize that he devoted a lot of time and effort to creating all of them. You can also participate in the exhibition’s experience booth to enjoy the exhibition more. There is a <Frank Photo Booth> that homages Eric Johansson’s <Street Retouch Frank> project, so it would be a nice place to take a picture there. There is also a large mapping wall called <Switch Photo Wall>. When you pull the switch, the screen changes, so it will be interesting to experience it. Don't you want to appreciate Eric Johansson's pleasant works more? The attractive exhibition <Erik Johansson, Beyond Imagination> is waiting for you.
