Chung-Ang University (CAU) has established Da Vinci Virtuallege to lead the digital transformation of higher education in the post-COVID 19 era. Da Vinci Virtuallege is a digital new technology- focused college that makes it possible to obtain degrees online. It is a new attempt to develop contents that apply Edu Tech based on advanced technology such as Immersive Media and to build an online education system and infrastructure that enables interaction. Students can experience a high level of interaction and learning experience through virtual reality-based classes such as extended reality (XR). Professor Wi Jong-hyun, who was appointed as the first dean of Da Vinci Virtuallege, said, “We established Da Vinci Virtuallege after confirming that there is a great demand for convergence education in Korea as well as other countries. We will establish a new university education model by introducing technologies and contents such as AI, big data, and NFT into education.” Da Vinci Virtuallege plans to expand the target of higher education such as foreign learners and lifelong learners by using a virtual degree system. There will be majors and subjects that can implement virtual content, and actively create an environment that can implement virtual education. Current students of CAU could also enroll in courses of Da Vinci Virtuallege as it is a newly introduced department of the college after all.
