On July 20th, Chung-Ang University (CAU) signed a business agreement with Dongjak-gu Office, Seoul and Soongsil University (SSU) to promote the second phase of the Seoul Campus Town Project. The Seoul Campus Town project aims to build a community where young people, universities, and the local communities grow together and strive to make a campus town where young people want to stay. The campus town project provides spaces for college-specific start-ups for students and helps college-specific projects. In addition, it creates a flexible and sustainable world in the college districts through continuous monitoring and evaluations. Since 2019 CAU has participated in the campus town project and has received about 10 billion won in support over the past four years. In this agreement, three institutions intended to transform the Dongjak-gu area into a job-oriented district through the campus town project and revitalize the local economy. Park Sang-gue, the president of CAU, Park Il-ha, head of Dongjak-gu office, and Jang Beom-sik, president of SSU, who attended the signing ceremony, all agreed about universities and Dongjak-gu working together to support young people to start and maintain their businesses in a better environment. Through this, three organizations plan to further advance the project based on the achievements of the campus town project promoted by CAU and SSU in the fields of youth startups, nurturing people, and regional revitalization. Additionally, it plans to take the lead in creating the campus town valley in the southwest region centered on Dongjak-gu. Furthermore, the organizations decided to expand community contribution activities to help not only students but also the residents of Dongjak-gu.
