Chung-Ang University (CAU) announced on October 27th that it held the ‘Hangang Tsudam Run’ event with the president of CAU near Banpo Hangang Park on October 24th. ‘Tsudam Run’ is a Korean word that replaces plogging[1]. It is an environmental movement that picks up trash while enjoying jogging. This plogging event was held to set a precedent to encourage faculty and other members of CAU to actively participate in environmental protection in the community's environmental cleanup, which is one of the university's important social roles. About 40 CAU faculty members, students, and local residents participated in the event, which was held for two hours from 10 a.m. to noon. President Park Sang-gue, faculty members from each department, the Blue Dragon Volunteer Corps made up of CAU students, student representatives, the Campus Town Promotion Team, and local residents contributed to the event. After the president’s announcement, all of those people picked up trash scattered all over Banpo Hangang Park. The collected garbage was disposed under the guidance of the Banpo Information Center of the Han River Project Headquarters in Seoul. President Park Sang-gue left a positive attitude towards the event as follows, "I hope today's volunteer work becomes an opportunity to activate face-to-face volunteer work."
