Every year, December 25th is the day of Christmas that makes both children and adults’ hearts pit-a-pat. Since Korea is located in northern hemisphere, people celebrate Christmas in winter, so when they imagine Christmas, they naturally think of winter-related Christmas words such as “white Christmas”, “snow sledding”, and “reindeer”, which are frequently found in fairy tales. Likewise, adults prepare Christmas with excitement to spend a warm Christmas in winter, such as buying a small fireplace for their house or decorating Christmas trees wearing winter gloves. In addition, thousands of people gather every year at the Shinsegae Department Store in Myeongdong Street, and Cheonggyecheon, which are both famous Christmas attractions in Seoul. This winter, large trees will be decorated for Christmas and cities will be filled with colorful lights, and people might be waiting for a happy winter Christmas. Also, as winter approaches, many people feel happy as they hold hands with their lovers and walk the streets listening to Christmas carols, reminiscing about their memories of Santa, whom everyone believed in as a child. In other words, Christmas in winter takes us back to our period of youth, keeping the integrity of our childhood innocence. Various fairy tales and animations that we are familiar with also tell stories that symbolize the winter of Christmas. For example, 'A Christmas Carol', 'Home Alone', and 'Arthur’s Christmas' are Christmas stories set in winter. These works foster children's imagination, keep their innocence, and help adults reminisce about the past. Therefore, if with a winter Christmas, not only do children keep their childhood memories, but people realize the value of these memories, and they can have a special, fun, and warm Christmas.
