Chung-Ang University (CAU) Central Library exists to help students read without extra cost, to give necessary academic materials while studying, and to provide a space for a quiet break. However, there could be problems faced while using the library that were difficult to figure out, such as times when books you wanted to read were not there, or when reservations were not made. Let's take this opportunity to find out about the various library services provided by the CAU Central Library with CAH!

Purchase Request

Sometimes there are cases when a new book of your favorite author or a foreign book have not entered the CAU library yet. If you find yourself in such a situation, try using the Purchase Request service. Purchase Request is a service to help you request the purchase of unowned domestic and foreign materials to the Central Library, and the method is quite simple. After logging in to the homepage of the CAU Central Library, click on the ‘Purchase Request’ section in the ‘Library Service.’ Books must be requested through search or by directly entering the bibliographic information (material name, author, publisher, year of publication, ISBN, price) of the material, and when requesting materials other than paper books (magazines, DVDs, e-books), they must be written in the notes. After a request is made, it takes about 2-3 weeks for Korean materials, 1-3 months for foreign things, and about 7 days for e-books to arrive in the library. Please note that it is not possible to purchase items that are already owned by the Central Library, and in the case of expensive materials or excessive requests by one person, they will be purchased after an internal review of the library. In the case of urgent data, the applicant for the desired book can apply for priority sorting when the data status is in 'arranging'. In addition, since there are purchase restrictions for certain genres such as comics / martial arts, fantasy, SF novels / light novels, etc. you must make sure to consider them.

Facility Reservation

In the library, you can rent a room for study or team play by making a reservation. You can make a reservation at ‘Facility Reservation’ in ‘Library Service’ after logging in to the CAU Central Library website.

Provided E-Books

As technology has developed, the appearance of books is also changing. The number of people who use e-books rather than paper books has increased, with interest in the environment and practicality. On the Central Library homepage, if you click the ‘e-Book’ part of the ‘Search & Find’ section, links to domestic and foreign e-book sites that students can use are organized. You can search for books directly in the search box there, or you can borrow e-Books by going to each site. Among them, the CAU e-Book integrated site is an e-book platform for Kyobo e-Books and Woorie e-Books (can borrow 5 books for 5 days, extensions are possible once for an additional 5 days, 5 books can also be reserved, and automatic return.) With a total of more than 25,000 books registered you can find most things you’ll want.

My Library

If you enter the ‘My Library’ section in the CAU Central Library homepage, various library services appear on the list. Among them, if you look at the ‘Books for you’, you can check which field you usually read, and you can use this to correct your biased reading habits. If you click 'Personalized Recommended Books', the library recommends books you might like by analyzing recent usage patterns of library users, and 'New Books Customized for Major' recommends new books related to the student's major. In the case of ‘New Books on Topics of Interest’, new books selected by individual interest are recommended, and up to 10 topics can be added individually. It is possible to set very accurate topics of interest with detailed classification, for example, even one subject such as social science is divided into other 17 sub-topics. When you don't know which book to read, use the various services of 'My Library'.

CAU Central Library is a precious and important place that presents many memories and knowledge to the lives of CAU students.
